WiregrassRiverRat Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Anybody used these? liked em? had any mishaps? breaks? customer service opportunities? and you get super points if you can compare with duckett rods.. thanks! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 2, 2013 Super User Posted December 2, 2013 I had the opportunity to fish with Carl Graham a few years ago and still see him quite often on Pickwick. Carl founded the company, but I believe the company was sold several years ago. Quote
WiregrassRiverRat Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Wow you are saying they are that bad? I have heard good things about them.... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 2, 2013 Super User Posted December 2, 2013 Ummm, an hand made in the USA rod by stay at home moms is like an Ugly Stick? I think you're thinking of another company. They look pretty nice to me, good Fuji components, micros, split grips. Price looks good, too, at under $200. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 2, 2013 Super User Posted December 2, 2013 I thought you were going to ask which hammer would be the best to use on a couple of your rods. 1 Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 They are headquartered in Guntown, MS but are built somewhere in AR. I've held several of them and there is no way to logically compare them to a Ugly Stick or Rhino. They are great rods and will be what I buy next. Quote
Brian Needham Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 does Midsouth outdoors still air? I used to find some old clips on youtube but seems to be really hard to find now. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 3, 2013 Super User Posted December 3, 2013 No. I think the show was cancelled a couple of years ago. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 3, 2013 Super User Posted December 3, 2013 Kent, I doubt the rods you sampled years ago are the same as the rods they are selling now. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 3, 2013 Super User Posted December 3, 2013 I bet you are right. I think I will edit my responses on this thread. I have not fished with the newer Hammer Rods. Thanks John! That is a very good point. Quote

Kent, I doubt the rods you sampled years ago are the same as the rods they are selling now. Have you guys actually tried them? I am trying to compare to Duckett and Dobyns.. I have heard components and quality are much better than duckett. and i have spoke with the owner.. he seems to be a nice guy.. compared to dobyns champ with the deal they have going on the 40% off the second rod.. will make these close in price for two rods.. just let me know and thanks! Super User roadwarrior Posted December 16, 2013 Super User Posted December 16, 2013 I have not handled a newer model, but Hammer Rods usually have a booth at the outdoor shows here in Memphis. Do you know any stores that carry the brand regionally? If there is a store in this area I would be glad to check them out for you. -Kent Quote

Gants BP. We have several members that frequent that store regularly. If they have them in stock, someone should be able to check them out in the next couple weeks or so! Jeff Quote
