I am addicted to finding deal on fishing gear. My way of getting back at the bait monkey I guess. I have found some awesome deals in my days like quantum pt energy rods for $25, pflueger asaro for $50 and a pflueger president BC for $60. Even found a metatanium on the cheap while here on a previous trip.

But I have trumped them all on my latest trip to Japan. I bought a daiwa alphas custom finesse nib for $130. I can't wait to get back home and try it out. I am tired of air fishing in my hotel room.

I also got a point (Japan's bps )( http://www.point-i.jp ) original reel ( much like bps's PQ) for $36 used in good condition. This thing has carbon fiber handle ,cork knobs, and light weight spool plus a really cool dual braking system (similar but different than the us dual braking systems I have seen).

For $166 I am bringing home 2 JDM reels that will get a immediate permanent seat on my rods.

I got the pfluger at academy store in Columbia when it first opened. I saw the reel sitting on the rack with a 59.99 price tag so I asked if that was right and the sales clerk said yea. He thought maybe a special price since the store was first opening but they had many deals that day. Got a couple of members here 2 citica e for 49each? And another a curado 50e for $99 that day. I believe this was when they were closing out the e series.

Sounds like you got quite the deal. Recently scored a Shimano Exsence DC at a nice price. However, I wait to use a reel before I decide whether it has a home for me.

A common misconception is shipping time for JDM gear. I got mine in 5 days from purchase. I've heard of people getting nailed with customs, however, it seems to mostly occur for rods. I did a lot of research before buying from a JDM source. Sounds like you did too. Hope the reels turn out as well as you are anticipating.

I ordered a Conquest 100 from Japan Tackle on Thursday morning, Eastern Time Zone, and it was at my door step the following Monday morning. Talk about service!!!

Buying from S. Korea was a different story. I just bought a new discontinued JDM Shimano Calcutta 50, a silver one with gold highlights off of eBay, it took around 2 weeks to get here.

I got the reel yesterday and it was worth the wait,

Awesome deal!  My best score so far was a Ch50mg and a Cumara used but in really good shape from a guy here off Craigslist for $150.  I look at that as a buy one get one free type of deal, cause they both still sell used for that much each!
