Creekcrappie Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Water temp was 43-45. Water generally stained clarity 1-4 feet. Fished on J percy priest lake. I fished a homemade 3 wire rig with basspro shop swimbaits in 6-20 foot of water for a few hours. I didn't have time to drag a jig. I need to buy some blade baits and some jerk baits soon. What would you guys use in that condition? Quote
Chris186 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Since I rarely throw jerkbaits and spinner baits, I would be chucking a 1/2 oz rattle trap. But if I were to throw a jerkbait, I like the Deep Down Husky Jerk in sliver/blue. Quote

Cass Caldwell Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Bladed bait like the Steel Shad or a jerkbait. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 2, 2013 Super User Posted December 2, 2013 football or dredge jig with a craw or lobster trailer. drag it slowly along the bottom, once you find the structure and or baitfish. Quote
Chris186 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Would you retrieve the rattle trap fast or slow ? I usually retrieve at a moderate pace, but sometimes I will slow it down. I will also pause it about midway back to the boat , just to see if anything is following it. I dont usually burn them unless the fish tell me different. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 2, 2013 Global Moderator Posted December 2, 2013 Colder water like that is good water for a suspending jerkbait without much action, baits like a Rogue or Erratic shad have produced well for me in those conditions. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 2, 2013 Super User Posted December 2, 2013 Another vote for the rat-l-trap. I usually start them slow, but if you are snagging cover then I would speed up the retreive a little. 1 Quote
