Lost a big fish just about an hour ago off a trick worm. Took me about 15-20 minutes of different retrieves to find out what was workin, had a decent fish on, he jumped off, then caught a real little guy. Moved over a little bit to the peak on the bend of the bank I was fishing, saw what looked like a 2-3 lb fish just sitting there (no sunglasses,) so I threw it past him, deadsticked it for about 10 seconds, then very slowly started retrieving it towards him. He swam off subtly, and then this hog slammed that freakin worm, fought it for about 2 seconds then it jumped and shook the hook like nothin. Two things I had going against me, using 8lb monofilament, and a hook with the barb smashed down, since I usually catch smaller fish. I saw that thing good on the jump though, thing probably had a 5 1/2" mouth and looked like it was stuffed from thanksgiving dinner, I'd say 4-5 lbs. Probably would have been a PB. Ah well, atleast I am gaining confidence in plastic worms. Definitely going back there sometime soon.

Yea man it's the worse when you see your PB come off. I would much rather not have that image in my head, I STILL have the image of my PB that got away in my head

Keep at it. It's going to happen again we can't land them all and you have gained confidence in a new technique. You will land a bigger fish with the knowledge you have gained.

she wasn't hooked but ur hooked for life!

now take the rubberband off ur reel...i mean mono. braid w/ fluoro leader gives you great hook sets, sensitivity and durability.

Bad thing is the more you fish the more it will happen to you. I lost one several years ago in a smaller lake in Missouri that may have challenged the state record. Did everything right and the fish still beat me, it's what keeps you going.
