I didn't get it from a heated argument with the wife or from a Chuck Norris type altercation with a fellow angler who insisted on convincing me that fire line makes a better braided line than power pro..lol. I received it from my dog (vizsla) last night while rough house playing with her when she raised her head unexpectedly and hit me in the eye socket (she also hit me in the mouth on another occasion.). Rather than face public humiliation and hear comments like "what did the other guy look like" all day long I strategically placed a band aid under black & blue spot to hide it from the public. I told my wife I might have to invest in a goalie mask or football helmet to protect myself in the future when I play with her...lol. One of the more unusual ways that I have gotten a black eye.

Reminds me of the last black eye I got...............was about 2005-2006. We just spent a long afternoon in the field freeing Europe from the Nazi's, and were assembled at Denny's post war for dinner..............just like 1944 LOL. Some one said something, not even romotely funny, yet I begain to laugh with great vigor.............now I don't know if was the 10 hours in the July heat in wool clothes with a steel pot on my head, or the Evan Williams I had in my canteen that I was sipping on all day insted of water.............but I passed out from laughing, and hit the floor so hard it gave me a black eye. To this day, when ever I go to the Dennys in Geneseo NY...........with or without the reenacting group, there is still a waitress who works there, that was there that day who  asks me if I need a pillow.

Last black eye I got was from getting up in the middle of the night and walking into a half open door.  Knocked me out cold for I don't know how long, but when I woke up my eye looked like a jig, all black and blue.

OUCH ~

Yup - been there Brother.

Lynn & I call that "Full Contact Dog Ownership"

Can't tell you the number of times I've taken a big head to the squash or had my teeth put through my lip for me; taken a couple of decent Mike Tyson like shots to the jaw too.   I may never learn "not to go over the dog" but I love to play with them and they just loose their minds too.  It's fun but you've got to be willing to endure the re-hab.

You've got me on the black eye though - how about posting up a shot of that Badge of Courage ?

Ah - the pleasure of large breed dogs.

Last black eye I got was when I was working nightshift. I came home around 4 am and the wife and dog didn't stir a bit as I walked into the room so I didn't turn any lights on. I figured I'd give my wife a surprise by jumping onto the bed...It's a sad realization that you've been falling for too long because there's nothing you can do at that point. I didn't even touch the bed, I'd jumped clear over the corner. Landed smack on my face so hard my whole body hurt for a day or two.

Not a black eye but close from my grand dog, an Aussie, while playing in the family room.

Knocked me silly but no black eye.
