Super User BassinLou Posted December 29, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 29, 2013 Ladies and gents I can officially say I am this months winner (I could possibly give ak a run even if he ninjas his fish) with the pig I just pulled in. I'm still at my pond so I'm going to make you guys suffer a little while until I get home! But I will say it's a PB by a lot for me Dsidle congrats on your catches and possible win. Although more than likely you won. It will be official on Wed. It's always exhilarating when you catch a PB. It's been a while for me, but its one you will never forget. You have have been consistent the last few months good for you. Quote
dsidle61 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 alright guys and gals here she is. so as most of you can assume caught it on a popr. Rained all morning when I was supposed to go out w AK and Czar, got a break around 1030 so I decided to head out to my spot up the street. was working the smaller of the two ponds w no action at first. Was about to head over to the second pond but I decided to work this weeded shoreline that I missed a nice one at the other day. This thing hit literally 2 feet in front of me, I coulda picked it out of the water w my bare hands lol. With all the rain it was pretty murky water or else I probably could have seen it where it was sitting. Still put up a nice fight took out a bunch of drag before I got it on shore. So as you can see the tape measure stops at 24" but its also hanging off the front lol so im just gonna call it 24" and as for weight it was 8lb 3oz. My previous pb was 6lbs. Lou ive completely lost track of what I have left to cull but I think its either an 18 or 18.5 so this should put me at 105 or 104.5. 7 Quote

I will not ninja you and if I did I don't think it would matter cuz I'm at 44" depends on how u wanna call it with 2 fish that are time eligible according to the rules. It's a shame we didn't get into anything at the new spot, Czar did but that was before we got there, then Mother Nature rained on us. But i know you arent complaining cuz if we didnt get rained on this morning and we met at the new spot you would have not caught that beast! Still it's unbelievable that Me, u, and Czar all caught our PB in a 3 day period, you would think we were fishing in the Bass Pro tank lol Quote
fishingator Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Here are the last two days 12",12",14",15" and 19" 3 Quote

Diggy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 The Berkley Havoc Subwoofer is my new goto topwater bait. Cheap and durable. Bought a bunch in a silver color for less than 2 dollars a pack today. I have caught Bass and Snakes on them. I even let them fall and swim them slowly. I know most love them as swim jig trailers. 3 Quote
Jacob044 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Guys, I have a question about lines. I am currently using fire line braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I like braided more than full fluorocarbon because for me, it cast's so much smoother and I get less back lash. It's time to re-spool--->Does anyone have an opinion on which braid is the best all around line?? Quote

Majority of people including myself use power pro braid, I use 30lb others use heavier but it's really not necessary unless you are flipping and pitching. But Power Pro is the best bang for tour buck. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted December 30, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted December 30, 2013 Power Pro spectra is the best. Don't get the new Super Slick. The original is what you want. And don't waste your time with a leader. Quote
Diggy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I like PP and Suffix. I like 50 on my daily use baitcaster, 65 on my special usage reels. I like these weights because I usually get my lure back when casting into overhanging trees. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted December 30, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 30, 2013 On the 3 outfits that carry braid on, I run with 40, 50, 65lb PP original braid. This braid could be bought at Walmart for a lower price than most. I have been using it for years and it has never failed me. As far as leaders, that's up to you. I use them in certain applications. 1 Quote

Super User MCS Posted December 30, 2013 Super User Posted December 30, 2013 Went out this morning finally got a chance to get a full hour in, chilly 50 degrees with 5-10 mph winds. Started about 5:45 am and finished at 7:15. Threw a spinnerbait early then switched to a jig. Once sun came up around 6:50 things got active. Landed my first jig fish ever and on the new setup. Nothing special but at least it wasn't a dink. Had to leave for work threw a couple casts with a lipless but no action. Here is the fish and the setup 1 Quote
