dreamertino Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Im new to jerkbaits I picked up a few of these to try out im going to throw them on spinning tackle. I was wondering if anyone had experience with them, did they perform well, did you have teak them if so what did you do? Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Good bait for the money. They dont always run true or suspend perfectly, but will still catch plenty of fish. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Floated slightly but a couple suspend dots fixed that. But they are all different so try it first. Also depends on water temp. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 1, 2013 Global Moderator Posted December 1, 2013 They work fairly well, probably have to mess with the hooks, or add a suspend dot or two to get them to suspend right. For that money I much prefer the Smithwick Rogue over the Husky Jerk. 1 Quote
dreamertino Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Thanks for that i will look into that and the suspend dots how do you guys store your jerkbaits Quote
MacP Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I pretty much only throw Rattling Rogues now. Although, trout around here love blue/chrome/orange Husky Jerks. I don't ever mess with the Husky Jerks or Rattling Rogues. The swift current at tailwaters messes with the action anyway. Smithwick's tend to suspend better out of the box than most anything I've tried. They are good enough, they are nearly the only jerkbait I use. Quote
EvanT123 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I've been fishing a husky jerk since before I knew what a jerk bait was supposed to do lol. Trolling them and casting and retrieving. I have caught quite a few fish with them. Don't think you can go wrong with a couple in your box. Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 i got a rapala husky jerk i bought about 5 years ago. it was the most useless lure i had until i tried it in cold water one february afternoon. i managed a 4lber and a 1.5lber on back to back casts that day. this was in a pond that yielded me nothing in cold weather on any other bait. i managed fish on other cold weather days with the husky jerk too. the fish in the pond im talking about dont really get active until may... I store all my jerkbaits in one from LC 65 pointers to Perfect 10 Rogues and probably have around 50-60 baits in it. Quote
