I plan to propose to my girlfriend of four and a half years next week. We are going to Dale Hollow for a four day fishing trip. She is a keeper if she is going to Dale with me in December, right? Anyways, I plan to propose on the boat at some point, but I am open to ideas if any of you more creative guys have any ideas. Thanks.

Put the ring in the bottom of a fresh jar of JJ's, if she'll go in for it, she's a keeper!  :respect-059:

Maybe hide the ring somewhere in your tackle and while you're rummaging through it mention something about how you're looking for the perfect bait for the best catch of your life before you find it an propose? Corny I know but that's the best I can do at 1am  :eyebrows:

How about on the fishing pole if its a two piece ...

Or bottom of the thermos bottle after you warm her up with some hot chocolate..

Good luck ...be sure and let us know what happened....

Ha! I think I may just do that!!

O.N.: I'd love to hook it up with a new rod/reel for her, but I'm flat broke after the ring and the trip!

Thanks all, I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. The hard part will be keeping the ring in hiding and keeping my mouth shut for another week!

Put the ring in a glass of white wine and let her find it at dinner.

Worked for me.

Never forget the ole gal looking in the glass and saying there is something in my glass and then pulling out the ring.

It was a cubic zirconia as we went to a guy I know who is factory direct and he threw a bunch of diamonds on the desk and she selected a very high grade diamond and a beautiful ring, all for half of what we would have had to pay at a jewelry store.

Any way you present the ring will be appreciated.

Congrats to you both.

Also consider wearing a nice suit or dress outfit underneath of an old coat and some baggy sweatpants. When she has her back turned and is goin through your tackle box, you can peel off your outer layer and be dressed for the occasion. The key is to wear shoes you can kick off in a hurry. She will love it, and all of her friends will be turning to their significant others to say "why don't you ever do something like that for me?"

Good luck, man. Let us know how it goes. Congrats to you both!

Congrats and good luck! Do it the old fashioned way and get down on one knee.

Tie the ring to you line, BRAID wouldn't wanna have that baby break off, cast out reel in for a little.  Act like you have a text message or going to grab something and ask her to reel it in the rest of the way and when she pulls it out she will see the ring and you will be down on one knee and pop the question.

Make sure your in a nice secluded spot, perhaps on the shore before you launch. Get down on one knee, get the ring out. Then whip it as far as you can in the water and run like hell. Just kidding, good luck!

First off, congrats

Maybe it's just me, but I'd be REALLY careful with an expensive ring, on a boat, in the cold. Surprised girl + nervous guy + cold + lots of water .

Just be careful with that rock! :)

I'd steer clear of the possibility of drinking her ring, or anything where you have it outside the boat.

Make it a real shocker. For a gag, bring a twig with you. As she's turned against you fishing, you get on your knee and set the ring up, break the twig and say "oh crap, I snapped my rod" at that point she'll turn around completely oblivious of the next moment.

Securely tie the ring onto the line of a fishing pole.  When you feel the time is right, dangle the ring in front of her and ask her if she'll be your personal best catch for life.
