Breath in thru the nose ... out threw the mouth.

Oh yeah...go fishin

Wish I could, we're in that weird time frame when I have put my boat away for the winter, yet there's no safe ice to walk on yet. It's actually one of the reasons I chose to do this now..... Fishing is and was a major trigger for putting a dip in, and I wanted the first couple tough weeks behind me by the time I fished again.

Keep it up!  During those tough times keep thinking about your family and how your adding extra life years to your life by quitting now (not to mention your also adding extra fishing years to your life at the same time.)

and it's way more brutal than I thought. I want to punch everyone in the face......

I am having a hard time seeing how that is different than normal for you while at work.   lol

Keep it up, you'll get through it.

Well tomorrow afternoon will be a week. The daily reports will stop now. So far so good. I'd love to say I feel 100 times better............but just my luck I get a freaking cold  that's been getting worse the last two days. I couldn't have picked a better time to stop though...........between fishing seasons, slow and stress free at work, and now sick (which would have curbed it anyways). God I hope I can make it stick for good this time.

Once you choose hope, anything's possible.

Way to go,the tough part is over. But it will take a long time to get where you don't reach for it. Been 11 years for me without a dip or smoke. 12 years this coming Feb 22. But I did have a good reason. 99% blockage and doc told me if I wanted to be around to enjoy life I had better stop.

So far so good. And today I figured out how much money I am saving by NOT dipping anymore..........I can't beleive how much I have spent on that crap.

Reasons to stay strong....

Money saved

Better overall health

Better breath

Cleaner teeth

No constant spitting

No mouth cancer

No rotted teeth or gums

No inconvenience of running out and needing it, so therefore...

No inconvenience of needing to stop and buy more

No one else asking to bum a dip

No stained shirts or other clothing from accidental drips

Easier to prepare to eat meals, no getting rid of the dip first

No bulging lip while speaking to others

I'm sure I could continue but these are some things to focus on. I've never dipped or smoked so this is all I could brainstorm for now.

I'm pulling for you! I know you'll be glad when you're past this stage of quitting. I wish my brother and sister would stop smoking. They both have smoked now for near 15 years, my sister for 20+. I'm the oldest but I never have smoked and never will. I can't understand what you're going through but good luck. Both my siblings have tried to quit and they just keep going back so it must be hard.

I never chewed or smoked before but I would think food would taste better since quitting. Plus another added benefit would be more kisses from the little women...lol.                  (been married 17 years, what's a kiss :laugh5: )

Ughhhhhh, the first day back at work since I stopped, and it's way more brutal than I thought. I want to punch everyone in the face...... Deep breath time. I will not give up or give in... But this day can end anytime now.

I know exactly what you mean. I have been working on quitting for a couple of months but haven't made it to 100% yet. I do fine when I'm away from work but when Monday rolls around its a whole new ball game. I dont have much patience for peoples b/s. If I could ever get past that I could reach my goal. I'm glad your doing so well. Keep it up. Sharing your experience is motivation for guys like me. Thanks.

If everyone would just do what I wanted, the world would be such a better place   :punch-2:

Cost and realizing how much hold the tobacco industry has on you are the two biggest factors on quitting, figure that you can't function without their product everyday is an eye opener. Glad they don't have that power over me anymore.

You've made it past the first week, most of the time that's the hardest part, good luck afterwards

Tomorrow will be two weeks. And now that the head cold I had last week is gone, I really do feel much much better. I sleep better, I pop out of bed easier in the AM with more energy, I am not tired during the day. Just have to keep it rolling untill the whole thing is an after thought....and not regress.

Seeing as how tomorrow is the 2 week mark, I will celebrate with begining an exercise progrum. Baby steps............perhaps I'll just start off by walking to the bathroom really fast.

Nice job getting this far - but we both know you'll never give in and this is in fact only a drop in the bucket.

The fact that you have announced you're intentions here is not only a bold move on your part but also solid indication that you are ready to move on from this and that you have no intention of letting yourself down.

The self-confidence that you will gain from this experience will transfer into all aspects of your life.

The single most positive aspect from this will be the improvement of your our self worth.

This will motivate you to change those three words above your avatar - because it's not true.
