Super User Oregon Native Posted November 27, 2013 Super User Posted November 27, 2013 This going into my third year of hunting here in Tennessee and do so hope this will be the year I contribute to the freezer. Good thing my son is lucky or good!! He's managed to at least get one in freezer and this year it's two. Used to hunt when lived in Oregon and did fairly well...but about ten years of non hunting before moving to Tenn has got me rusty I guess. All I'm seeing is lots of tail and foot prints. (not even good soup here!!) Have to get used to this wide open woods and slowwwww down I guess. Take care and good luck Quote
KritterGitter Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Took me 15yrs to bag my first buck, which was last year. Still went out every year! Remember, while your slowing your hunt down to also enjoy your time out there, luck will eventually be on your side! Good luck to ya also and may the luck be with you this season!! Quote
nick76 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I hunted for 4-5 years and then got out of it. Never shot any deer this few years and saw very little. Last year my son asked me to take him hunting so I got back into it. Managed get my first buck and a nice big doe. Was glad to get a little meat in the freezer and spend some time with my son. This year I am being more selective with my deer and hope to get a nice big buck. Kritter is right, slow down and enjoy it. I have learned to enjoy my 3-4 hours in the blind. Gives me plenty of time to clear my head. Just like fishing isn't called catching, hunting isn't called killing. If it were everyone would be doing it. Best of luck to you. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Put the time in, do your scouting and stay aware of your surroundings, I am sure it will happen. But like I said,,,,,put your time in and do your scouting, it don't just happen. or you can wait on luck to make it happen,,,,,that may take a while. GOOD LUCK!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 2, 2013 Global Moderator Posted December 2, 2013 I normally get at least one deer every year, but this year I have yet to even SEE a deer from one of my tree stands! Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted December 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 3, 2013 Well, we were going to hunt friday but I spent the day in the ER....dang pancreas stuff. Asked doc to fix me so I could go sat. Whoohooo...took pain away, got a good nights sleep and felt awesome. But it was a wierd day if you know what I mean. Anayway son saw two does...me nothing. I was even SERIOUS and never took a book to read when sitting so long!! Then pain returns for next two days and wife says no more hunting till you get healed!! Did fall in a big ditch I tried to jump. This could of have set it off maybe...not sure. Did put a good bruise on my arm. Good Luck to all. Quote
