RAMBLER Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Before you ask, no I didn't catch anymore than one dink, but: I was throwing a Zoom Horny Toad and saw it was floating. Never had that happen before. It's a Watermelon Red Pearl. I discovered it had bubbles in it. All five, in the package, are like that. It floated a 5/0 EWG. I weighed it on my powder scale. Weighed 197.8 grains and the white ones (no bubbles) weighed 214.5 grains. Anybody else have any other color that floats? Should be deadly if I can find where the bass went. We just didn't have any luck, the other day. Bluebird day, high pressure, water temp 80 degrees. Quote
JDK. Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 hold on to those... i like the stanley ribbet floaters Quote
MMan16 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I got that same color and they don't float. Interested to hear from others?! Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 12, 2010 Super User Posted October 12, 2010 Not the same color, but I got pearl and 1 floated, the rest sank on a 5/0 EWG Quote
RAMBLER Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Maybe a goof up when made and air got mixed in. I'll sure be looking for more of them. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 13, 2010 Super User Posted October 13, 2010 you should email them about it and tell them you like it. Quote
Gangley Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 yours had bubbles in it causing it to float. However, certain colors are more bouyant than others because of their density (addition of flakes and dye density). The bullfrog color seems to consistantly float for me while watermelon red will sink. This isnt always the case, but most of the time it is. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 13, 2010 Super User Posted October 13, 2010 Zoom plastics are very inconsistent, and you never know what you're gonna get. Almost every pack has at least one bait that's messed up somehow. Quote
bassman018 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I have always had great luck with zoom baits, they are a great lure company for me. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I have one pack of zoom toads that floats as well. Spongy consistency like that of the Ribbit floater. I also have a couple of bags of zoom trick worms that float, though they don't feel spongy. The vast majority of my trick worms sink. Maybe they got some air into the injection machine at the end of a batch? Quote
The Bassinator Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Zoom plastics are very inconsistent, and you never know what you're gonna get. Almost every pack has at least one bait that's messed up somehow. Even if the baits look messed up to us the bass never seemed to mind it too much unless they're really finicky Quote

MMan16 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Nice fish! Looks like the floaters work pretty well then. Quote
