Does anyone have one of these? I am not too familiar with Powell Rods but I hear good things about them. I saw this new rod line and am considering purchasing one. Are they good rods?

Not sure about the inferno, but I have a few Max's and an Endurance for sale for under $100 in the Flea Market. I can guarantee you that they are a better rod than the Inferno will be. :eyebrows:

Well considering that wasn't the question he was asking. Try some common courtesy man. No need to try and be a salesman.

Op I'm sure you'll be please with it. This is their introduction in to the $100 ish price point. So I'm sure they spent done time on developing this. Before it was the $50 diesel and then the max and endurance series for $150-170. Both are great rods. Though I'm not sure at full retail. Still trying to figure that part out. Even the diesel is a good stick for the money. It's a little heavy but not terrible.

Considering they just came out I doubt anyone has had an opportunity to make a solid review. That said, I've used several powell rods and still do. The max and endurance are both great rods for the money, and the diesel had a good rep. I don't care for the reel seat on the inferno so I probably won't be getting one, but if the rod falls in line with the rest of their rods I'm sure it will be a good investment.

Haven't done the research on them so this comment may be pointless but the Diesel line if I remember had a bad or no warranty. So this being their new "mid line" rod, I would hope they have a good warranty.

The diesel had no warranty because it was a $50 rod. By the time you pay shipping and whatever it cost for a replacement you could of just bought a new one.

Powell rods are great. you won't be disappointed. I didn't try them yet but I'm sure the Inferno are good stick.  But for me it would be all about the warranty and I don't know what their 'limited original owner' policy is (maybe non-transferable).

Megastink is right to steer you toward his rods b/c they are the two lines ABOVE the one considered.

if ur considering an Inferno (say 'class C') his Max/Endurance are class B and A for a cheaper price. and they have lifetime/transferable warranties.

IMO no need to buy an Inferno when you can get a used Max/Endurance or new during a holiday 20% sale for about the same price.

when my club got their sponsor discount they were discounted based on $65 list price then shipping was $20 so for 1 rod discount was pointless. Lol but good point on lack of warranty. If you picked one up from a local shop and say one broke on first hook set you could prob return it where you got it. ...... Sorry for thread hijack

Considering the endurance can be had for 139.99 all day I'm going to say the inferno will be right up there close to it. Especially since it's a new rod and some thought has went into it so it's competitive at it's price point. Heck the endurance and max were 109.99 for a good while. So what does that tell you? No place is going to sell a rod and lose money on it. The inferno will carry an over the counter warranty/exchange regardless of how it breaks for $30. I spoke with Keith on the phone over the summer when I had some questions. He told me that tackle tour would be reviewing their whole line up.

I've got the inferno jerk bait trap rod and it's a good investment.

I've been a Powell rod user since 2006.  I have a number of Max rods from then, as well as a few later models.  The original retail price was $169.99 and then they dropped the price on the under 7' models to $139.99 when the Endurance rods and the longer Max rods came out.  The $109.99 specials over the last year are a steal for these rods.  The Powell rods I have purchased are a good buy even at original retail prices.  If the quality of their other rods is any indication, the Inferno will be a very good rod at its price point.

Sportsman's Warehouse has great prices but they charge shipping regardless where you live. Its 13 bucks plus another 7 if the rod is 7 feet or longer. Alternative route is ship to store and pick it up if you live near. Then if you live in the state that has a sportsmen's warehouse, you will pay tax too.

Back to the original post, haven't use or own an inferno rod but it's a rod I would consider. Before buying the inferno I will wait for reviews from the average person and from *** and tackle tour. I am very satisfied with their max rod series.

If you get an inferno rod let us know your opinion on it.
