Leaning pretty hard towards recarpeting my boat.

Best place to buy carpet?

Best adhesive to use......spray or spreadable?

putting new in is easy compared to taking the old out.  bassboatseats and a spreadable would be my recommendation.  I have not done it but I watched warmer do his.

Your local carpet shops should have it in stock. My stepfather redid one deck lid on his. If he can do it, anyone can trust me. Though his had come loss On its on.

I had some contact cement he used. But warning that is just about permanent. We figured the carpet would outlast the boat. Lol.

I have bought seats and carpet from them and both were great. Btw they should have a Black Friday or cyber Monday sale.

They sell glue but I used a OUTDOOR carpet glue and a 1/16 trowel from HD.

Taking off the old isn't hard to do.  Get some lacquer thinner, pour it over a place, give it a few seconds then lift the old carpet off.  Take a spackling knife and remove the glue residue.  Let it dry then put on glue and carpet.

 

Don't do this indoors unless you have a death wish.

I have carpeted a small piece with spread on and one locker lid with spray. I was thinking I would use the spread on for the replacement. A lot of my carpet is coming loose on its own........I will keep the acetone idea in mind for the parts that do not want to pull off easy.

Might call the local carpet shop where I bought the little piece.......not sure of quality.....how to evaluate it.....we'll see.

Cation acetone and lacquer thinner would do a quick number on the gel coat on fiber glass that stuff is pretty hot. You can probably work up a corner of the carpet and lock on a pare of vise grips and pull it up. I'd try a dull putty knife to scrap up the I glue first. You don't have to get it all off just knock off the top of the trowel notches if it has any. They sell a four dollar razor scraper at HD or Lowes that might take it all off. Normally a carpet layer has a strong 6 inch razor scraper. Cost about 10 to 12 bucks there maybe.Look where the tile tools are. I did carpet/ vinyl when I was 18. A good pare of scissors might cut out the carpet. I'd think. Would round the corners nice if so.
