I got my Hero Black today. I can't believe these things are so small. I always figured they were larger. Got the WiFi set up on my phone. It's so much easier to control the camera with my phone ans iPad vs the camera.

The SD card was shipped separately so it should be here in a couple days. Definitely need to get a few more batteries.

Get a charger. Either the dual one from gopro or the one Frog Turds suggested. Its a pita charging one at a time in the camera. Have fun with it!

Oh and make sure when you buy Micro SD cards that they are class 10 cards. If you put in anything less, they're bound to fail even if they seem to work initially. I got a 64gig ScanDisk on Amazon for like 40 bucks on some killer saving. I also have a 32gig one. Stick to reputable companies that will back the warranty. ScanDisk / Kingston / Patriot are a few I have used.

We stocked up today. Got the wall charger with battery, 2 extra Go Pro Batteries, 4 ScanDisk 32 gig cards, the LCD screen and the tripod mount. 4 batteries and 5 cards otta be ok for a week in a half in Maui.

maybe it'll be enough, each of the 32gig cards will give you around 4ish hours of vid, each vid file will be in GB's and take up more than you may realize...with the LCD screen & wifi on, its gonna blow through batteries like a crack head...i'd approximate 1 battery for every 1hr of footage...even on the gopro site, which i feel their times are overrated for battery life in general, states 1 hr of battery life with the LCD on the Black, add the wifi and could be even less...

I have noticed the same when using the LCD screen and wifi the battery drains much faster. I need to invest in a few extra batteries

I've said this before but don't leave your battery in the camera if you're not using it for an extensive amount of time. I noticed that when one of mine stays in the camera it performs probably 30-40% less filming time than one that is fully charged waiting to be used. No real proof other than my own observation. FWIW

I figured it would eat it up pretty good. The LCD screen is more for my fiancé. She wanted a camera that she can see the photos as she takes them. When videoing I don't plan to use it.

We got the 32 gig cards as Best Buy had the 64 gigs for 99 dollars and the 32's for 29.99 on sale. It only made since to get more bang for our buck.

It that over time with the same battery after its been recharged or just after its been sitting in the camera?

Just sitting in the camera waiting for use.  Not actually deteriorating the battery life span.  I haven't had mine long enough to know if the life span is actually affected or not. I'd imagine like anything with rechargeable batteries, they will go bad at some point in time.

Just got a black 3+ last weekend for my Bday.  I've been playing with it and even made a video of stupid crap around the house.  The editing software is amazing.  I can't wait to get some action footage.

I'm not a techie and only spent 10 min working on it with a template.  You guys with some tech skill should be making awesome videos in no time.

Scan Disk, Kingston, Patriot. Just make sure they're class 10. I'd get 32g or bigger. Check Amazon often.

I just picked up the Hero 3+ silver for $190 and can't wait for Xmas to try it out.

Heads up to anyone looking to buy one, Erik's Bikes and Boards is selling the Hero 3 silver for $199 online with a $10 discount at checkout.  I pulled it up on my phone and Walmart priced matched it so I had it on time for Xmas.  When I got in the car I noticed that they price matched a 3+ instead of a 3...BONUS!!!

Just got the roll bar mount set up on a double seat post rig for a higher vantage point from the rear deck.  Filming starts at dawn.  Can't wait.
