AlfredBaudisch Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I'm not from the US so I have no idea how this works and I didn't find any info about this elsewhere: can I fish in Virginia and bring a fish to Washington D.C. (for example to cook)? How does the regulation work? Thank you! Quote
tritondriver Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I don't know of any regulations about transport just catching and the amount of fish caught..clean it, take it and enjoy...but hey u talkin about D.C....so who knows.. Quote
Insanity Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Only regulations in TN is against releasing live fish. Long as it's dead they or other states wouldn't care I don't think. Welcome to the states! I want to catch what ever your holding. Lol. 1 Quote
AlfredBaudisch Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Thanks guys! I want to cook 1 or 2 bass if I catch them at Charlottesville, so I think I'll be fine then. I want to catch what ever your holding. Lol. That's a Brazilian Redtail Catfish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redtail_catfish that I caught in North of Brazil (near Amazon, 2000 miles away from home lol, since I live on the South). That beast had 45kg and a 40 minutes fight before I managed to see it. Its fishing is catch and release only tho, it's prohibited to kill it. Quote
gar-tracker Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I would buy it a few drinks first. Quote
CountBassula Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I would be very careful if you catch a Snakehead (i think they have them in VA). in Florida it is illegal to transport a life one. with non invasive species i'm sure you're fine, BUT different states/localities can have different limits, so for example say you catch 5 of fish ABC in VA, but D.C. may only allow a person to bring home 3. you might have a hard time explaining that to a park ranger or whatever. one fish should be OK. again, this is all speculation on my part and not based on any written law nor code. 1 Quote

Thanks. Yeah actually I'm thinking in bringing just 1 (max 2, if 1 is too small) and driving them already dead. But since you say one should be OK, I'll try my best to take only one with me. Quote
