NEjitterbugger Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I have used some big ones for stripers, they swim awesome and I do catch striped bass on them... I haven't thrown any for freshwater bass though... Great movement though! Quote
Super User CWB Posted November 23, 2013 Super User Posted November 23, 2013 Yeah that's my other concern. Typically it's #12 fluoro for my square bills. I've only lost a few. Less then 5 this season. I wonder if #20 mono would be ok for these 4-5" baits for bass. I might even try #30 braid at first. I guess it's a trail and error situation. Keep us posted on your experiments. Probably be next year. Not all of us fish southern impoundments ( but wish we could) I'm gonna tinker with lb test and length flouro. I'm thinking of starting at 17 lb 8-10 inches tied to 10lb main line and go up from there. I use a 1/2" Kahara snap as I change lures alot. Too impatient. Always check the line though. I used to get complacent with a snap and just kept casting until I lost a monster right at boatside. Checked line and it was frayed. Quote
