Sebile Magic Swimmer

What size do you prefer. The 125 or 95?

I plan to try some of these smaller swimbaits this spring, so I'm trying to make a list of a few to purchase. Right now I plan to get the spro bbz-1 4" in killer gill and perch. Also the sebile either 95 or 125 in natural shad and bluegill. Might give the jackall giron a shot too. Also plan on trying mattlures and live target ones too.

125 for me. the girons are good as well. check out the deps slide swimmers, I use the115s.

I just purchased the Magic Swimmer 145 (1.5oz) in White Lady. I hope to use it on a deep lake next spring. It looks beautiful. If I was a bass, I'd eat it.

I was looking at them earlier. $38 is a bit more then I'm looking to spend in the beginning for 1 lure.

I like the bbz shad in blue back herring or killer gill and bbz 6" in lavender shad. never used the sebile i hear good things about them though. I really only use hard body swimbait that are floaters. I would recomend a ms slammer for a starter or a live target bluegill wake bait to help get your feet wet in swimbaits but be warned its addictive.

Check out the River2Sea S Waver in the 168 size also.  It's a proven bait for not a lot of money.

Yes I've noticed already. I've been eying up the live target for a few weeks. I really like there stuff. The sebile I mentioned is a hard body "I think" They have soft ones too though.

Anyone have good/bad thoughts on the reaction strike 4" baits? Right now I'm limited to 1oz until I get a designated swimbait rod which I see is probably going to happen. My 7'3 is rated to 1.5oz. The mattlures v2 bluegill is on my list for sure also.

My only experience with reaction strike is the fat head jr hollow belly swimbaits they come in 3,4,5,6,&8" i think. They are pretty good baits i think they hit the mark on those but reviews on some of their hard baits haven't been that good.

Can't recommend anything from sebile or reaction strike. Poor QC. I had a hard magic swimmer blow up on me and the soft ones have awful paint peeling problems. Go with the proven baits if you want to get into swimbaiting

All of those aren't really in my price range. Except the spro 4/6" models and mattlures v2 gill. The other one that is like the hudd 6" is too heavy for my current rod. I was looking at videos of the savage gear baits earlier. They look nice.

The River2Sea S-Waver 168 is a nice bait and is actually cheaper than the BBZ, Sebile 125, or Jackall baits you're thinking about trying. It is a little heavier but at just over 1.5 ounces most any flipping stick will handle it with no problem. I really like the 168 in bone color for both largemouth and smallmouth.

what is your heaviest action rod? I threw 2- 2.75 oz baits on a 7' 6" MH Veritas all summer because I couldn't afford a decent swimbait rod at the time.

Yeah the price is good it's just 1 5/8oz. Currently too heavy. The 120 size would be ok. I'll give one a shot.

Bettencourt Dying Bluegill is a pretty slick little bait. Its only 3/4oz and the action is sweet. Easily thrown on a mh rod. Check out the video on YouTube or tackle warehouse.

I have one of the Savagegear lipless 4play lures, love it! It does get bit by pickerel quite a bit, but it's a big bass catcher with great action at a great price. The one I have weighs 1 oz.

Have used the small BBZ and the Giron. Both are good baits for around $20.00. Giron is pretty cool. When you stop the retrieve it kinda turns around to see whats following it. Also let it fall to the bottom and it doesn't lay over. Haven't tried the Sebile but I have used the Strike King Sexy Swimmer. Pretty good bait for the price. Not chasing 10 lbers up here either. Only bait I have ever caught 2 fish at once on. I shy away from the super expensive baits as any cast a 30" pike can take it with them.

^^^ yes exactly. My home lake is filled with toothy critters. Luckily they've only managed to steal a few square bills and a live target jointed perch. I really don't wanna start donating 30-40 dollar swimbaits every outing. I just managed a giron for $13.50 off eBay so I'm excited to try it out.

^^^ yes exactly. My home lake is filled with toothy critters. Luckily they've only managed to steal a few square bills and a live target jointed perch. I really don't wanna start donating 30-40 dollar swimbaits every outing. I just managed a giron for $13.50 off eBay so I'm excited to try it out.

Same here on the toothy slimy critters. Don't get me wrong, I love catching them and they put up a real good head shaking fight. My best this year was 39" on a KVD 1.5. Hit like a freight train. No mistaking the fight. Head shakes and short hard spurts testing your equipment. But there is nothing worse than reeling up a 24"er and seeing him shake his head and take you expensive bait with him. Had a decent one break me off at the boat and then just lay there. Came close to jumping in on top of him I net them no matter what the size just to be safe.

Yeah last outing I lost a brand new live target perch on my 3/4 cast. $15 lure gone in 5 min.

I've tried that and sevenstrand. Either they hamper the action or are too visible but I don't seem to get near the bites using a leader. I have a few flouro leaders for muskie but they are 80-100 lb test. That would surely kill the action. I tried 12" of 30 lb. and didn't seem to get the same amount of bites. Gonna keep experimenting. There has to be a trade off point.

Yeah that's my other concern. Typically it's #12 fluoro for my square bills. I've only lost a few. Less then 5 this season. I wonder if #20 mono would be ok for these 4-5" baits for bass. I might even try #30 braid at first. I guess it's a trail and error situation.
