Toeshots Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Couldn't say no to 20% off, plus another 5% cash back on card, plus free shipping. Hopefully it lives up to what the reviews are saying. Will probably pair it with a size 30 Pflueger and 6-8 LB Tatsu. Based on what I've read it should be good for finesse/hair jigs, weightless T-rigs, tubes and shakey head, right? Sucks that it's going on winter in the Midwest but I should be able to get some time with it before the water freezes up. Looking forward to it coming in next week! Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 i did the same and love it. love the handle length and feel. good sensitivity. good tip. i have the ML and have 4lb co poly on it for split shot/weightless techniques. if i could change one thing i would make the guides stronger. i bent them a few times in transport so be careful. an amazing rod for $100. makes most rods in the prince range look like a sapling. you won't be disappointed. Super User smalljaw67 Posted November 22, 2013 Super User Posted November 22, 2013 I have 3, I was impressed with the first one which is the one you have and that lead me to buy 2 more. Some don't like the short cork grip on the casting models but they work for me and the actions are perfect for the way I fish, they just fit me and my fishing style really well. I still am amazed at the sensitivity of this rod series, I've never fished with a rod at that price point that has as much sensitivity, at least for me. The spinning rod you got is also the most comfortable rod I ever put in my hands, and I'm a guy who uses casting rods for most of my fishing but I was really quick to go finesse eve since I got mine and that was when they first came out. Good luck with your rod, I hope you like it. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 22, 2013 Super User Posted November 22, 2013 Mr. smalljaw turned me onto the Smallmouth series. I have the same model in a casting rod plus the 6'10" MF casting. I've stated before that I prefer the Smallmouth series better than the *** Black I have. I know I will get flamed for saying that. fishusa currently has the best everyday prices on them that I know of...unless you know of a better place....$99.95. I think you will like it a lot once you get a chance to fish it. I know I need the 6'10" MH-MF after smalljaw's rave review of the rod. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 The fit and finish was above average on the ones I've seen as well. Nice little off the rack rods. I find myself moving more and more toward ML power for spinning rods. 2 Quote
Toeshots Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 Glad to hear it's as good as prescribed. Will be here next week. Looking forward to a nice Black Friday session at the local pond while the crazies are out shopping! Quote
dam0007 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Nice pick up! The reel seat on that looks comfortable. I picked up a silver hawk a ways back and hated the reel seat they used. Rod does cast great and is pretty d**n sensitive. Let us/me know how it performs ! Quote
