Went to the local power plant today. Now it's always been a ton of trash thrown down everywhere. But it's even worse now. You'd think people would be getting smarter. But apparently not!

As it started to rain I stepped under the bridge to get out of it. But couldn't stand the racket. The water was porting threw the drain holes above and hitting piles of plastic bottles and cans. You've never heard such a racket. As I looked around I couldn't help but think you'd think people would wise up. Places have been closed all around here due to dumping and just general trash thrown down. Just ticks me off.

Yards of Line laying everywhere. I once had to wrestle a duck down in the mud to cut him loose from a hole spool of line. He probably lost the foot in the long run. If I could just catch one of these idiots striping line off a reel and leaving it. I'm gonna take a stick to him. Picked up a half a five gallon bucket full today alone.

And I wish I'd taken a picture of the bay at our old camp site. (Would have made a nice please don't little sign.)The water was unusually low one year. And you wouldn't believe the amount of blue plastic worm containers alone. I'd bet $20 bucks it was more then a thousand in that bay alone. Drifted in there somehow. Could have filled two dump trucks with the total trash. Looks like they'd make worm containers bio degrade by now heck I'd pay extra for it!

We have an open container law here now so I can see why there's so many beer cans and bottles. But worm containers and line are the two things I really go out of my way to pick up. Cause I no who they reflects on.

Oh and I carry a bucket when bank fishing the local park ponds. It's not to keep fish it's to clean up behind the idiots that fish these places. And yet these places, one owned by the state are taking up there trash cans. Which causes the people that normally would carry it to a trash can to just throw it down. What the heck are my taxes paying for. There to busy doing what ever they do to even empty three trash cans a week. Three bags at most there. As I used them I no how much it was going out. They even had an ATV with a bed to do it.

What the heck are the littering tickets that hard to enforce? If I was a cop I'd be on them idiots like stink on a skip jack. But no there to busy chasing down speeders. It must pay more. Umghh!

Sorry just felt like venting. I feel slightly better some how. Maybe someone that does it will read this and think for a min.

I don´t know what the h*l is wrong with people but it makes me mad they behave like swine. A block away from my mom´s home there´s a park I take my dog for a walk everyday, it´s a mile long and quite nice, I like a responsable pet owner carry a bag to pick up the "gifts" my dog drops while we stroll, lots of people also take their pets for a walk and I bet you that 75% of them don´t give a darn and leave their dog´s crap soiling the park.

WTH is wrong with those people ?!? I don´t know but one of these days the managers of the park are not going to allow pets in it for that reason.

As I said before, have ya'll seen some peoples yards or went house hunting in some less than savory neighborhoods?

It's just second nature, people don't even think they are doing anything that could harm others or the environment.

Not just the trash. It seems to me that society in general are carrying us down in a spiral towards doom. Hearing about some getting murdered used to be a shocking bit of news. But nowadays it is on every newscast everyday. And what people do to kids.......my gosh. It literally brings tears to my eyes when I watch the news. Or I look around and see how people live in squalor or trash places up.

The penalties for littering or allowing trash to blow off your property need to be increased to a staggering amount. $50k or something ridiculous like that. As long as penalties are not stiff enough then the guilty will continue as they are.

Ok.....sorry. I will dismount my soapbox now. I just get so dang mad!

Much of the root problem is economics, not necessarily a blanket statement but so often in poor areas we see home sites terribly littered.  Homes run down, cars on blocks or rusting out somewhere on the property, trash and garbage not tended to correctly, a simple disrespect for their own environment.  This attitude transcends into our public roads, lands and water ways.  It is not isolated to any one ethnic group or area of the country, it's everywhere.

I've been to some really beautiful countries, the littering was terrible and often times adjacent to 5 star resorts.  Some 40 years ago I took several trips into the wilderness of northern Canada, as pristine as it was a trail of beer cans was always evident.  I may add there was heavy industrial machinery just rusting out, again it's economics but not from the poor.  It's more cost saving to take the depreciation of the equipment than to physical move it.

I participated in a river clean up on a river that ran through an affluent community. One of the most common pieces of garbage I picked up from the river was plastic bags filled with dog waste. People pick up after their dogs where people can see them, then when they get out of site, they throw the bags in the river. This is done by some of the wealthiest residents in the area.
