I'm looking for a new rod to use for jigs, t rigs and spinnerbaits. I was looking at the st. Croix avid and the powell endurance but I would be open to other suggestions as well. I would like to spend 200$ or less

I have two in our Flea Market:

G. Loomis IMX MBR784C for $150

Dobyns Champion 683C for $175

The Avid would be a great rod at your price range. If you wanted to jump to a Dobyns Champion, Ron with beat the big box boys can probably get within 20-25 dollars of your mark. I love my Avid's don't get me wrong as I have 3, but for bottom baits, the Dobyns Champion line feels better.

Dobyns Champion 734 can be had during TW black friday sale (starts tomorrow 20% off) for right around your 200$ price tag.

Check out the Fenwick Aetos line - imo better than a lot of rods in the price range.

For $200 I'd also get a Dobyns Champ on the black friday sales. Or check out the fleamarket. Lots of good deals there!

Some good options posted so far. ill second the powell 714c but also have a look at the shimano crucial line up. Another good option though maybe a little over the budget would be the falcon cara AOY rod Right now it looks like the powell endurance rods are on sale at tackle wharehouse.

Get two St Croix mojo bass spinnerbait rods 7" MHF that way you can have one rod with a t-rig or jig tied on and the other with a spinnerbait

If you are serious about fishing jigs, T-rigs & spinnerbaits, you need to get 3 rods.  You will save a lot of time cutting line, switching baits, and so forth.   I know this seems like additional expense but consider this;  You can buy fishing tackle, you can't but fishing time.   Anything you can do to increase your fishing time is money well spent.

I probably get to fish less than the vast majority of people on here.  I carry as many rods with me as I can...each with different baits.  I seldom tie on a new lure while fishing.  That usually gets done before leaving the house.   I prefer to pick up another rod, and keep casting.

Although I have several rods with the power for frog fishing, it is something I haven't done often.  Of the 2-3 rods I have used so far, I prefer my Zillion 7'6" HF.  I've got a 7'6" MH Villain that I think may make a decent frog rod as its power is definitely on the high side of MH.  Will have to give it a try, and if it works make it a dedicated frog rod.  Otherwise it may never get used.  :sad78:

I would get something between 6'10 and 7'2 medium heavy to heavy. Check out the Denali Kovert series, they come in well under your budget and they are super sensitive! http://www.denalirods.com/kovert72mhwormandjig.aspx
