So what would be a good squarebill rod from dobyns for throwing anything from megabass knuckle 60's, speed traps, river2sea biggies and possibly a bit heavier squarebills. I'm going to be fishing lots of rock and trees but also a lot weeds on the delta. Looking at a graphite stick since I'm not a fan of glass.

How heavy of squarebills are you looking to throw?

So far, all of the techniques you mentioned will be perfect for this rod. I

Ok that's what I was thinking, how good of a jerkbait stick would this make?

704cb is THE jerkbait stick, that's gary's words not mine, though I 100% agree.

I actually throw my squarbills on the 704, but I am light cover and only throwing 1.5 (you need the 705 for your squarebilling)

Yeah that's what I figured lol. Oh well, looks like I'm buying two sticks instead of one

705CB Glass is my favorite squarebill rod by far! The 705cb is also a great square bill rod the graphite is quicker than the glass, but that is to be expected. I use the 705 cb around grass fishing traps ect. and the 705 glass in a more rock/wood situation.

I also was not a fan of glass rods until I actually fished the 705cb glass, it is unlike any other rod I have used in that it doesn't feel 'dead' like alot of other glass rods on the market. Once you're holding it you won't be able to tell it's a glass rod, for me I also find it loads up alot better then the graphite version, If I were going to own just 1 crankbait rod, this would be it.

705CBMF glass...

This is my GO TO squarebill rod and just used it 2 weeks ago to win us a 2014 Nitro Z8 in texas..

I had the rod in my hand for 15 of the 16 hours on the water throwing a Kustom RC 1.5 and it handled it well!

Its one of my most used rods..

Plenty of power, but the glass adds that softness so it wont pull hooks when fish murder the bait..
