macmichael Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Thanks again mac, for the fine day on the water, in your boat. I had a great time fishing with you, and I'd do it again, any time. And yes, I was whupped when I got home. Had a bite to eat, a small glass of wine, and went to sleep in my recilner; until my wife booted me out of the chair and into bed. Slept like a baby. (except I didn't suck my thumb and crap my pants) Whenever you're ready. "Have boat will travel"

Or at least the highways getting out to them. Search humps, long points and any holding spots before heading to the ledges. Hope for current! Jeff

If its the Tn end humps and main lake points. Also theres a small hump out from this branch N 34.99669 W 88.18112 that should hold lots of fish when your here. If your GPS has the lake maps look for the road coming out of that branch. It runs out to the old river channel. Good fishing along it also and theres an old steel bridge below there that is not on any of the maps. Not sure why its not but its still there. I will be fishing below the dam for Stripers. Can't get them out of my blood. They should be busting down river by then. We have evenings where its 3 fish or 50 never know. Or fish the tailrace and catch them until you get tired. But hard to beat the top water bite down river. As people I take will tell you its better then Sex cake... 1
Super User 00 mod Posted May 8, 2014 Super User Posted May 8, 2014 Pete, I have been dying to learn to striper fish on the river. Anytime you are free, gas and grub is on me! Jeff 1
Pete-K Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Pete, I have been dying to learn to striper fish on the river. Anytime you are free, gas and grub is on me! Jeff Jeff what days can you fish? Top water just keeps getting better as next month until Sept its hot in the evenings.. Fishing live bait at the dam unreal when current is on. Fishing a lb bait in that current and having the rod ripped out of your hands is unreal. Hope to camp at Pickwick and fish a lot this year. Best top water is 15 miles down river and 13 miles to the boat ramp from the house. Pete
macmichael Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 how do you like that PFD??? I been thinking about springing for one of that style. I won one of these at the boat show this year. It so comfortable you'll forget you have it on. I wore mine all the time while in the boat. You'll love it. 1

Very sorry for all of you that couldn't make it this year. We set an all time record for X-tra nice weather. The accomodations were excellent! I arrived at Double Head on Wednesday around 10 AM ahead of schedule and explored the country side and it is BEAUTIFUL! I finally caught up with Long Mike and checked in and un loaded around noon. Gary (ghoti) set up his amazing "wine & chesse soire" with gormet coldcut sandwiches with all the trimmings. Thank you Gary for another wonderful "Soire". Glen was also handing out the new Bass Resource hats and lots of goodies from the board sponsors. TOOO cool. Thursday, met with Bassin Chris and his lovely wife BeckieC and went to breakfast. Chris took me out on his boat and I had a great fishing day. Chris is fisherman and a gentleman. We caught some fish, told a lot of stories and had a great day. Thanks Chris! For dinner, Roadwarrior fired up his famous "Memphis-Burgers" with all the trimmings and it was AWESOME! RW arranged for a local pro to come share some fishing tips on his home lake. Crotchety old Long Mike kept shouting at everyone to "Get off the lawn!" A good time was had by all. Friday was a day to remeber. I got the privelige of going out with Steve (Big O). I don't know if I laghed as hard as I fished or fished as hard as I laughed. There's no way to describe a day on the water with Big-O, it's just something you have to experience. I think Jeremy caught the most bass, and Big O caught the most drum, but we all caught some bass and we all caught some drum. I can tell you that we all caught a lot of fun. Thanks Steve! We stayed out a little later than most and got back just in time to have a belly full of PeteK's amazing BBQ. This was a highlight of the trip. Special thanks to Pete & his sweet wife for working so hard to feed us some of the best BBQ ever! Saturday- After the 1000 mile trip and two long days on the lake, I got lazy and just 'vacationed' for the day. Wandered around the camp, took some pictures and an afternoon nap. I made some rice and heated up the gumbo apetizer for the catered evening meal and just vegged out. LOL The big banquet was great. We had some fried chicken and sides and had the big "Tackle the Storm Raffle". Good food, lots of wonderful prizes and some big bucks raised for the TTS charity. BTW, I won a "Rage Tail hat autographed by all the Strike King Pros in the raffle along with another boat load of baits. Sunday - Had breakfast with Glenn, Keri, Chris, Mike & MikeL. Chris took Glenn & I out for a 1/2 day. After 7 years of road trips this was the first time I fished with Glenn. We all caught a fish and good time and sadly had to pack it in for the long road home. I want to say thanks to all of the attendees and I won't try to name you all because my faulty memory will miss some one. As I packed ny car to drive home, all I could think about was how can it be over, we just got here. The time flew and we had a blast. Glenn & Keri deserve special thanks for all they do year round, but especially for Road Trip week. You two are the best! Long Mike carries a heavy load and always comes through for us on the trip. Great seeing Mike again! Steve (Big O) is a generous, larger than life character with a heart as big as Texas. Here's a few pics from my week. God Bless you all! 4
Big Bassman Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks for the pic! What a great looking bunch of Bass Anglers!
Big Bassman Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I noticed there has been some discussion about PDF's. Let me share with you my good fortune to own one of those. Our boy's gave my wife and I each one so we would have no reason not to wear our life jackets. This early spring when I was fishing Grand Lake of the Cherokees, I fell in 40 degree water and was really happy to be wearing this type of flotation device. It brought me right up to the surface and saved my life for sure! I can't swim, so you understand where I am coming from. The cost verses the payback is very insignificant. I highly recommend them to everyone, very comfortable. Especially good for us old timers who are a little unstable. LOL 2
