Brian Needham Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 well heck, I remember I do.......got it when I took a rod down to him Friday.
BeckieC Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 The cabins are still 100%, although a tree might have taken out a hammock. BassinChris just talked to them and all are fine/safe.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 29, 2014 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 29, 2014 They had 3 tornadoes go through there today - all VERY close to Doublehead. I haven't been able to reach anyone at the resort. The phone lines are jammed. So texting is it.
Super User Gatorbassman Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 I'm held up in Atlanta until the storms pass. I'll be back on the road early tomorrow. I talked to Jon and everyone is fine but hanging out in the dark.

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 29, 2014 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 29, 2014 Ok, that's good news. Now...are any roads blocked?
BeckieC Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Ok, that's good news. Now...are any roads blocked? Roads were clear for now but some look like they could flood at any time. Resort had our key taped to the office door so luckilywe have a place to sleep.
papajoe222 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I just talked to BassinChris and he's in town getting ready to have dinner. He said other than being a little wet they're fine. I mentioned the severe weather going through Decautr and he said there were storms, but he didn't feel they were that serious. Hopefully, the front is moving north and east and will clear out of the area.
BG RTR Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Only road closure reported is hwy 72 in limestone county. This will only impact those come in from the east such as from I 65.
BeckieC Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 If anyone is travelling east on I40 through Little Rock be advised that there is a 2.5 hour delay due to people rubbernecking the tornado damage outside of Conway, AR
Super User Long Mike Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 If anyone is travelling east on I40 through Little Rock be advised that there is a 2.5 hour delay due to people rubbernecking the tornado damage outside of Conway, AR Luckily, I know of a way to go around the logjam, but it will take me about twelve hours to do so. I'm gonna turn off I40 and spend the night with family tomorrow in a teeming metropolis known as Wye, AR. When I get back on the road I will have completely circumvented the Conway area. I've always fantasized about being pulled over by a cop and have him ask me where I was headed. My response would be "Wye." The conversation would probably degenerate from there. 1
Brian Needham Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Mike I wonder if you can run 64 all the way?

Super User Long Mike Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 like 40 needs anymore reasons to be the worst road in Arkansas Man, I thought I10 was bad, but that stretch of I40 between Little Rock and Memphis is the worst I've ever seen. Semi, after semi, after semi. 1
Super User Alpster Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 Finally got everything packed and loaded. Escaping the East coast early in the morning. Looks like I will get to drive through those storms as they head east. See you all on Wednesday.

BG RTR Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Exactly where? we'll be coming in from Hunstville. HWY 72 is now back open. It was closed from Athens to the Lauderdale County Line. I drove through there this morning and it is back open. Serious damage to the communities of Coxey and Clements .

Can't believe I'll be heading out shortly. I gotta say that the anticipation of this outing got me through the last few weeks of what seemed like the longest winter in recent memory. Thanks in advance to Glenn, Long Mike and everyone involved in organizing it. You all can count on my help both for set up and clean up duties and anything I can do to help out in planning/organizing the trip for next year.
