I'll be rocking a Raiders bandana over my face. Wouldn't want to ruin the anonymity of the GREATEST, BEST, MOST FASCINATING bass fishing Raiders fan of all time. Raiders rag on my head, Raiders rag on my face, Chelsea Jersey on my back, Black and Silver ADIDAS pants, and some nice comfy flippy flops (in Chelsea blue of course)!

I look forward to seeing all yall. I know I can make at least two days.

Still weighing options. Should have something definitive by the first of next week. Ain't out of money yet, but getting close. Has been a nice four weeks off though. I got two interviews tomorrow and one on Tuesday.

I'm so happy I logged on today. I had an amazing time at Guntersville. I'm hoping I can make this trip. Alabama was such a great place and I look forward to going back!

I'm in! I'm more likely to be traveling there myself so if anyone wants a roomie I'm soon down! This is exactly what I've been looking for! I'm going to need more info about how to get there from las Vegas! I will do some research on my part but any help would be great as far as airports and buses to the site!!

Posted

I better start making friends, and find some roomates!! This will be the first time going and I hope everything goes as planned so I can go!!

Hey! It's going to be my first time too! I'm so down to be a roomie! If it means saving money so I can get brand new gear for this trip then I'm totally down! Let me know!

no sure about a Yak..... of course Tupelo has a petting zoo with bison.

I am sure you could stop off in Kentucky to pick up hay, if not, I am sure there is a store nearby that carries sweet feed.

check the resort's pet policy though.

We are currently doing the homework on airports and ground transportation. I will post in this thread what we find to be the best airport and how we might arrange carpooling for air travelers. It is best for you to arrange your own roomates if you can. As the time gets near, we will be better able to fill empty spots in cabins. Please advertise in this thread if you need roomates and when you get four members, reserve a cabin. This will make it much easier for your humble coordinators. Stay tuned to this thread for any new info that becomes available. The registration form will be posted soon, so get it returned as soon asyou can.

You can fly into Muscle Shoals airport (MSL), which is 15 mins away. Avis, Enterprise, and Hertz rent cars there, or it's close enough that somebody could come pick you up, or you can even cab it.

nah Yaks would do fine, while not Indigenous to the South they can survive.

In all serious though, if a person was thinking about bringing a kayak, I would wait closer to time to make that decision.

At this time of year on the TN river current can be rolling pretty good. They were pulling over 200k CFS of water through Pickwick last year with all the flood gates open.

not sure how Wilson responds to that, but Wilson is one of the smaller lakes on the chain and may or may not release more water because of it.

Being in a kayak would possibly limit a person to protected coves, and if anything bad did happen it might produce a long and hard paddle to saftey.

But what do I know, I have seen people kayak on the Mississippi in a 150 year flood.

I am just urging saftey.

Guys I'm thinking about going this year. It sounds like a lot of fun and I will learn a lot. So do I tow my boat from PA or just fly in and rent a car? If I fly in will there be enough boats?

Posted

I say pull your boat down if you are comfortable with it and have dependable tow vehicle and Trailer.

I drove last year and will again this year.....about 550 miles for me. checked and repacked wheel bearings on trailer check lights ect.......like you should always do anyway.

I just like having my boat/stuff with me.

there were several folks that came down last year without a boat............as far as I know everyone that wanted to got to fish and nobody was left standing on the banks that wanted to go.

Last year was my first year and  I am told that it is always like that.

I think the more boats the better.................but either way it will work out.

There was some crazy cajun guy (Alpster) that rode his motorcycle all the way down from up north that way last year...........he's crazy! but he cooks up a mean dish of cajun grub.

But that is how much fun it is.

So.....bring your boat if you can.....if not.......don't worry about...just c'mon down.

I will be there again, and will be hosting the next installment of the Saturday Night Wine & Cheese Soirée, which will, of course, be Wednesday evening.

Don't have a menu yet. I'll wait until I get a better idea how many people I need to feed before making any plans.

I've been to three of them, driving from PA each time. It's not that bad of a drive.

The one thing I found out on the first one.....dont forget that on your return trip that there is an hour time difference. It makes it seem like a looooooong day going home.
