Super User Long Mike Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 I did nothing wrong, I simply differentiated between slips and slips. I may have slipped a little on that one, but I felt I was on a slippery surface when I made the post. I'm going to assess myself two warning points.
Super User Alpster Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 I'm going to assess myself two warning points. I think you are being a little hard on my buddy Mike here. You need to lighten up a little.....

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 How many days are we down too? I'm down to 71 days and 11 hours. But I'm leaving on April 19th. Go here, and you can download your own free countdown timer. Once you set it up, it will appear on your screen when no window is open. When you download it, you can find the download by clicking on the start icon, then computer, then click on downloads. You will find the program there. Click to open it, then, fill in the "event" line, then program it for the date and time. Click on start, and you're good to go. http://www.eventcountdown.com/
Jack Fate Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 If anyone needs any info on how to get around down here such as directions to tackle shops, eatin' holes etc. hit me up. Also I run a meat market at a local grocery store so I can get a halfway decent price on meat for the cooks in the group. Just let me know what and how much a few days ahead of time.
Super User Long Mike Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 Greg, first question. Using Google Earth, I spotted an eatery about a mile or so from the resort. It sorta looks like a truck stop, and could serve us well for our breakfasts. What's your opinion?
Jack Fate Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I think I know what you are talking about. Its prob. half a mile or less away actually. They do have a small deli. I haven't eaten there so I'm not sure of all the offerings. Its located at the corner of Highway 101 and Highway 184. There are a couple of convienence stores across the river that are that sort of thing too. They have biscuits and sandwiches. Nothing big.
BassnChris Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I know it's still a ways off......but it seems closer when I look at the calendar and think of all the things I need to have done before the trip! Still more excited than ever!
Super User Long Mike Posted February 9, 2014 Super User Posted February 9, 2014 I'm looking for a Mom & Pop outfit that caters to folks who get up early and want a real breakfast. You know, eggs, grits, bacon, biscuits and gravy.
Pz3 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Looks awesome, just starting a new job so I won't be able to get time off yet. Man I wish I could go though. 2015 for sure!

You know, eggs, grits, bacon, biscuits and gravy Hmmm..Can't think of any that are real close by.. Killen Diner is fairly close..Its probably about 10-12 miles away. There are Hardee's and and Mcdonald's in Rogersville(about 7 miles away). Seems like there may be a place in Town Creek but I'm not sure. Haven't been through there in a while. Most of the other real close places are convienience stores that fix breakfast but not sure how much variety they offer,
Jack Fate Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Long Mike, There is a place in Town Creek that has what you are looking for. It's called The Farmhouse.

BassnChris Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Also yes it has already or will be shortly shutting down completely. No buyer. Just closed up for good. I hate the smell! But I hate what its gonna do to the local economy and the folks that work there and the folks that service. Those folks. Man I hate that!
