GaterB Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 General concensus on the Shimano Chronarch CI4-Good reel for all around presentations? Looking to get one around Christmas and take it down to FL where I'll be throwing frogs, punching, and generally fishing grass with all presentations. I've heard some negatives about the durability. Can anyone offer some advice or info? Thanks! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 13, 2013 Super User Posted November 13, 2013 I have read nothing but rave reviews. However, I don't own one so we'll see what some guys that have fished them this year have to say. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 14, 2013 Super User Posted November 14, 2013 Not a lot out there about it. I've heard the typical complaining of the wimpy CI4 flexing, but I never experienced this with the regular CI4's I used my wife's CI4+ HG for a few hours and I can say it's better in every category over the E's series. The higher gear option is sweet and the braking has plenty of adjustments for fine tuning. Very smooth casting and retrieve. Though my season is very poor now and fish are hard to find I haven't felt a fish on it yet. I really like it, now I have to get one for myself. Quote
Rangerjoe Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I recently purchased the high speed model, and so far think it is one of the best Shimano's I have ever used. I have never heard anythink about a durability issue, and would love to know where you heard there was a problem. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 As with anything this new the jury will remain out as far as durability is concerned, but FWIW I haven't seen or heard anything to be concerned about. As for the OP regarding application, they're suitable for pretty much any common bass fishing application with the possible exception of deep cranking. The ratio (IPT) is just personal preference. I always take those with a grain of salt because you never know if the person writing them works for a competing company. That was the reason I came here to ask. I trust the members here much more than anyone writing a review on a site that sells tackle. Quote
