BradGuenette Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I couldn't be happier with the CPR mount from green fish! http://www.greenfishmovement.com/shop/cpr-mount/ 1 Quote
sbfishySC Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Anyone have any experience mounting a GoPro to the top of the outboard with an adhesive mount? If so, have you run the motor while the camera is up there? Just wondering if it would stick going 40mph down the lake. Obviously I would tether it somehow, but I'd like to get some good running shots and a suction cup just won't stay stuck going 40mph down the lake. Quote
carlm01 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I use a Scotty mount very easy to install Quote

I honestly dont know if they will stay stuck to the outboard but i can tell you the adhesive mounts are extremely strong! we use them for motocross and ive seen dudes wreck insanely hard and them stay stuck onto the helmet and im talking like bouncing your head off the ground rolling on the ground like the camera getting landed on into the dirt and they still stay on!! Super User AK-Jax86 Posted December 31, 2013 Super User Posted December 31, 2013 My buddy is getting a pond prowler and I was wondering whats a good way to mount the go pro? I have one and I think he is getting one too so we wanted to mount them. Should be able to get some good footage this spawn can't wait for that. 1 Quote
Insanity Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I've seen several tri pods. That fold down to about 12 to 14 inches long. Around 3 or 4 inches wide at the base. Weigh near nothing. They make a stick stand to. But I don't no what the end looks like. If you could stick it in the ground or not. It's meant to just hold and steady the camera. I gotta get one to. I've done two things resently I wish I had on video. One was around a ten pounder I new seen me and wouldn't have bit nothing no matter what I did after she eyed me. Never tried. But I stuck the tip of the rod in front of her and whipped it back and forth pretty hard. To scare her back into shallow water just to look at her more. She sunk on under the rod tip out of sight. With out a care in the world. So I went to pick the rod tip up out of the water. When I noticed the slightest dead weight on the jig that was hanging about two ft off the end of the rod. Yea she had it. I thought it was a stick or something. I guess she thought the splashing scared that jig across the bottom. So she grabbed it. You cant set a 5 oo on thight line. But it will break 20lb braid when it pops loose. And land five ft behind you like 7 seconds later. Lol. I just wish u could have seen the look on both our faces. If a fish had an expression. Hers was care free as I pulled her big head up to the surface. She never even fought just back paddled with her side fins. As I seen the jig hook point standing perfect on her top jaw. I leaned on the jig hard as I could but watched as it just fell over on it side in slow motion. And flew off the roof of her mouth. I typed this in when it happened. But never hit post because I new no one would believe it. Heck I wouldn't. Wish I had the vid. But if I dare carry a camera or a dip net il never need either. Lol 1 Quote

Should be able to get some good footage this spawn can't wait for that. with a pond prowler i would say use a sticker mount to the trolley motor and the camera should be set up in wide view so it will pan everything your doing thats what i use on my jon boat! And for the second one maybe look into a handlebar mount with a stick so it sits up high and can view the other fisher if not both of you depending on how high it is set to! you can put the handlebar mount to a handle on the boat because im pretty sure they have handles but not 100%! https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1024&bih=636&q=jon+boat+mods&oq=jon+boat+&gs_l=img.3.3.0l10.1535.2918.0.7349.9.9.0.0.0.0.137.819.7j2.9.0....0...1ac.1.32.img..1.8.681.15weG0mE5OQ#hl=en&q=go+pro+fishing+mount&tbm=isch&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=v4TjdYNIglRc7M%3A%3BitHL1Z6n1O4KTM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.kayalu.com%252Fk%252Fimg%252Fmisc%252Fexpedition_kit_arm.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.kayalu.com%252Fk%252Fradpole-portable-ram-mounts-navigation-kayak-light-camera-mount-fishing-pole-mount_page_3.php%3B97%3B705 that ones for a kayak but maybe you could find a way to mount it like they show on the website granted a crate isnt gonna be convenient for space in a pond prowler! http://www.anglerscenter.com/boat-accessories/onboard-video-recording-equipment/gopro-hd-hero3-plus-jaws-flex-clamp-mount/ there is also the jaws flex mount that might work also! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128692-new-gopro-boat-mount/ another good idea depends on if you wanna drill a mount into your boat or not http://www.kayalu.com/k/radpole-portable-ram-mounts-navigation-kayak-light-camera-mount-fishing-pole-mount_page_3.php hope these are helpful!! 1 Quote

Lol Do you remember where you saw those tri pods? And man that story does sound crazy would have been awesome to get on film. When I caught my PB last week I was going to get out my gopro before I casted but didn't (wouldn't make a difference will see later). It was pretty cool I was using a magnum pop'r and then I caught maybe a 3lber it exploded on the pop'r. The fish jumped out the water and shook the hook then as soon as my pop'r hit the water my 7lb 7oz PB inhaled it. I hooked her then the fight was on got her in snapped a few pics then let her go, it was awesome to see and would have loved to get that on film!! Not the 10lber you got but same thing happened to the both of us we missed some amazing footage. It's funny when I have my gopro runnin nothing but dinks lol when I don't have it going that's when I get the big ones! I kept it in my fishing backpack for a while, haven't used it in over a week at that point, then I went to get some underwater footage of bedding bass from shore and gopro was dead. Someone mentioned that the gopro will drain the battery while it is turned off and it's true cuz like I said I haven't used it in a long time then when I did it was dead (I have the LCD touch screen too so that could add to the drain) I am stocking up on batteries got a good deal online for 4 of them, my buddy is actually going to look at the boat today and we may be out as early as Saturday trying to get some footage! Super User AK-Jax86 Posted January 2, 2014 Super User Posted January 2, 2014 Instead of the prowler my buddy got talked out of that by a bass pro associate and is on his way home with a Jon boat. So I need different ideas for mounting but id imagine it will be a lot easier in a Jon boat 1 Quote
Insanity Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Heck. I just realized when reading you post. When you guys said go pro mount. I was thinking camera mount. But your talking about a typ of camera. Correct? The tripods I was talking about. Was just a standard camera tri pod. It has a screw that threads into the bottom of the camera. If your camera has a threaded hole in the bottom. It will work. Might have a flat head plug screwed into it. Walmart used to carry the tri pods. Ebay I've got to get another digital camera. My son dropped mine and messed up the zoom lens. I can get a small Nikon for $40 bucks or so from the pawn shop. That should shoot decent video. Wish I could find one with a shutter bottom like the old 35 mm film. You could add a cord and bulb looking thing that u just squeezed and it took the picture. In this case it would activate and start videoing. That way you don't accidentally move the camera when turning it on. Go pro sounds high dollar if it will handle motor cross wrecks. Sounds like a camera for my son. Lol. Quote
Insanity Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I just went and looked up the camera. Look at the Frame Mount. The flat bases that it comes with looks like the quick connects on regular camera tripods from what I remember. But I watched the video and they didn't mention it. Seems they would have. Unless maybe they are in the process of making there own tripod. Seems they would have one anyway. How ever you could contact them and ask if it does fit. The tripods come with a square mount. You screw that into the bottom of your camera. And to add remove from the tripod you just mash a spring loaded botton. And I'm feeling pretty dumb rite now if you already no this. Just thinking you might be younger then myself and never dealt with 35 mm. Lol. I say square. But best I remember I've seen two. And they both remind me of the two they show. Why would they have two anyway. I bet they fit. I bet there camera doesn't have the threaded hole I mention above. And they made this to fit a standard tri pod. Quote

So I need different ideas for mounting but id imagine it will be a lot easier in a Jon boat in my jon like i said i just use an adhesive mount to the trolley motor and then you could screw a mount down to the metal on front part of the boat to get that angle!! if your willing to do that if not look up some google images of setups they have a ton just type in go pro fishing mounts and explore your options lol 1 Quote
