dougie511 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Was curious of everyones go pro mounts that they have set up on there boats? I have a go pro i use mostly for motocross but ive started playing with it while im fishing recording releases and things like that so i was curious how some of you guys have them set up so i could get some ideas to start recording on boats! Pics or links to setups will be much appreciated thank you!! Quote
tnriverluver Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I have been playing with mine for about a year now and have just used the adhesive mounts in various places on the boat and sometimes the head mount. Not real happy with the angles of any I am using right now but I try to keep my camera plugged into the 12 volt system on the boat since I fish for several hours and don't like swapping out batteries. I use a five minute loop when recording with mine. The best angles I have seen used were with the camera mounted up higher on a pole that captures most all the action but most that I have seen done this way had the camera swaying or vibrating excessively. I will just keep experimenting with mine until I fine something that finally makes me happy. The Adhesive mounts at least remove easily without leaving any residue behind and can often be stuck somewhere else. 1 Quote
flipin4bass Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Check out the Mighty Mounts, Pan Fish Camera pole, Dog Bone, etc from Hook1. This is what us kayak anglers use for our Go Pros and I see no reason why they wouldn't work on the bass boats. http://kayakfishinggear.com/camerasandaccessories.aspx 2 Quote
mnbassman23 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I really like the suction cup mount and use it on my windshield most of the time. I've had it on various parts of my boat were the fiberglass is wide enough as well. An adhesive mount on the boat motor works well too. I would really like to rig up a pole to get a higher view shot as tnriverluver mentioned but havent though of a stable and convienent/portable way to accomplish this when I'm fishing solo. 1 Quote
tnriverluver Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I have been considering mounting mine on the rear pedestal since I usually fish alone with just my dog, but it is a long walk to the back of the boat to reset the camera after each fish is caught. I don't use the remote function and find it clumbsy on the Iphone. My biggest issue is having a long enough charging cable to reach the camera however. I have rigged cigarette lighter plugs in all three of my boats to help alleviate that somewhat. 1 Quote

mnbassman23 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks man! It was a carrot stix gold with a Lews super duty reel. If your looking for a new rod look at something else.. I've broke 3 carrot stix and would never buy another after this one snaps. The super duty is an awesome reel though. 1 Quote
LivewellHero Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I just use a straight up head strap mount Quote

BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted November 23, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted November 23, 2013 Has anyone tried the flex clamp? http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/jaws-flex-clamp I'm getting one for my birthday (Dec 10, in case your feeling generous) and am looking at mounting options 1 Quote
Cass Caldwell Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Looking for something also. The suction mount is good for warmer weather, but it will fall off when the weather gets cooler. Happened to me three times on my boat today and it didn't happen once all summer. 1 Quote

But the picture was actually perfect for where i stand Quote
dougie511 Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 That's what happens when you catch Minnesota Monsters! So i apparently need to try to fish Minnesota in the future lol because the fish on that go pro video are healthy!! almost looks like a video in Texas or something haha 1 Quote

dougie511 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 If you use the suction cup make sure to have the camera tethered. My suction cup mount will not stay stuck to anything and it is brand new really? i would be sending it back then because when i unpackaged mine i stuck it right to my kitchen table and lifted the side of it off the ground just to make sure it worked!! and ive stuck it to the windshield of my step dads boat and it stayed fine i of course didnt pull on it or anything lol his boats way to expensive to be doing that to haha Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted December 9, 2013 Super User Posted December 9, 2013 Mine works great as well. Only issue I've had was on extremely hot days. You should tether just to be safe especially if the camera is close to an edge of the boat. Contact GoPro, I'm sure they'll replace it. 1 Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted December 10, 2013 Super User Posted December 10, 2013 I was looking for something to mount my go pro with. I am a bank guy so I want to set it up behind me, I'm not really a fan of the head mount route. May have to invest in a tripod but I don't really want to be lugging that thing around with me lol. I have a back pack so maybe I could find something that folds up I could put in there, any ideas? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted December 10, 2013 Super User Posted December 10, 2013 You'll have to suffice with some sort of tripod mount then and carry it. Some of the tripod mounts can fold up pretty compact. You should look at a photography store that has a big selection. The head mount would be the least maintenance for you or you can look into that new Jaw's clamp except I don't know where the heck you'd put it unless you're around trees all the time. Do not get the chest mount, please. I can't stand watching fishing videos of the chest mount. I had thought about getting the head mount myself, except I am constantly looking around when I fish. Like I have ADD or something but i'm usually looking for movement in the water or other stuff. I'd probably have some terrible footage. 1 Quote

Yea man that's why I need to ditch the head mount because I am the same way lol. Always looking around mostly at the water for movement but at some spots I am looking for snakes that creep up on ya lol. With the colder weather here in north FL haven't seen many as of late. I am going to look into a compact tripod or even something makeshift that I can just stick in the ground and mount the camera to. Quote

Put one of the adhesive mounts on a tackle box and set it back behind you a little and up on a hill if possible. I don't like the head straps myself. They are not very comfortable after wearing them a while. 1 Quote

Not my intention at all so for anyone reading this thread I do apologize. For all I know, I probably have it too and just never got it "verified" by the Doc. 1 Quote
