So here's the deal. I've been saving up all year anticipating the release of a touchscreen model, which has now been introduced. However my plan was to buy a touchscreen for the console and a discounted 998c si hd for the bow. I assumed that these models would be able to link and wasn't expecting a complete software system change. I am now questioning what is the best route to take, and money is definitely a part of it or I would just order 2 Onix units. I am so confused as to what direction to take with the 1199, the 1198, and the new touch models. Do I wait for a black Friday sale and buy an 1198 and 998 and run the old stuff or is the 1199 worth the extra bucks. I think the Onix is out of the question since you would have to buy 2 at $3200 a pop to interlink them. Or an onix on the console and a 998c on the bow and just no interlink. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thx

That whole subject has been debated on another web site for a week.

The touch screen models are being made to compete in the blue water market.

You will have to determine what functionality you want with your equipment and puchase accordingly.

The "black Friday sales" on the 1198 and 998 have been going on for over a month with marine electronics dealers.

Are you waiting for the big box general sporting goods places to put on a sale like Cabelas and Bass Pro?

Thx guys , yeah I've been watching that other thread, I guess I'll wait and see if any more info comes out on the 1199. I wish they would have made that a touch model and this would be a much easier decision.
