flipin4bass Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Well, after what seemed to be a long and sometimes painful, inner debate, I decided to go back to what I know, and I know Tridents. I came so close to pulling the trigger on a Wilderness System Ride so many times over the past year, even took a couple of test rides, but injuries incurred over a 23 year Army career just wouldn’t reach a happy median with the seat. I have a seat that easily fits the Trident, has adjustable lumbar support, and allows me to paddle and fish for 4+ hours without having to get out for a stretch. The Ride would have required some mods for me to use this seat. I still think the Ride is a very innovative design and is probably the most stable platform out there. If you like the idea of standing while fishing in a yak, the Ride is the kayak to do it from. My physical handicaps wouldn’t have allowed that and would have been an accident waiting to happen anyway. Besides, I’ve gotten good at pitching and flipping from a sitting position and can hit a 1’x1’ target at 20 feet, so my fishing will continue to be done from the seat. So, here she is, 15 and half feet of yak. The Trident tracks great and is fast. I’ll be adding some mighty mounts, rod holders, crate, and some stickers soon…then she’ll be ready to glide across those lakes. 1 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 10, 2013 Super User Posted November 10, 2013 May she be everything you've hoped for, and more. Good luck, and have fun. May the two of you make many happy memories. Quote
gallowaypt Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Awesome looking kayak and happy veteran's day!! Quote
MacP Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Sweet! I've sat in them before. The seat is similar to what's in my Hobie. I much prefer the elevated seats in the Jackson Kayaks. Quote
flipin4bass Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Got a nice surprise at the Tag office yesterday...I went to renew the registration on my Trident 13 and register the Trident 15 that I just purchased. Oklahoma no longer requires registration of kayaks or canoes. The new law went into effect July 1, 2013. We use to be one of 8 states that required registration so the new law is a big welcome now that we are finally in line with the majority of the rest of the country. Quote
flipin4bass Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 She's starting to look more like a fishing yak. Added some Mighty Mounts w/fullback plates and a couple of Gear Trac GT90 mounts. 2 Quote
