Super User Crestliner2008 Posted November 10, 2013 Super User Posted November 10, 2013 With water temps in the 40's and cold nights, it will not be long before the water turns to ice up here. A sad time. Hope to launch a time or two more before winter sets in. How close do you guys cut it? Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 My last day out in my boat is usually around thanksgiving 1 Quote
Smokinal Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I launch until the water is too hard for my boat to float. Last 2 years I have been out the first week of December and water in my area is usually hard by Dec 10-15 . My home lake has a couple of houses with webcams so I watch those before driving up. I watch those instead of TV in the spring, with bated breath, waiting for ice-out. i think I will have 2 more trips out this year...Nov 17th and Dec 1st. 1 Quote
KyakR Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Threw my back out last week and had to put my yak up......sigh. Nice to hear you guys in Maine are out there. Usually I stay out 'til about Thanksgiving myself. Quote

Usually I stay out 'til about Thanksgiving myself. Sorry about your back. I keep telling myself to take the kayak out but end up shore fishing with my dog. I will shore fish until it ices up (looks soon ) All of us love fishing so much it leaves a big void in our lives. Thank God for this site! Quote
Super User slonezp Posted November 14, 2013 Super User Posted November 14, 2013 Fished Friday and Saturday in 24* weather and dropped the boat off at the dealer Monday for winterization and warranty work. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted November 14, 2013 Super User Posted November 14, 2013 Winterized my boat 2 weekends ago. I didn't see any chances of me getting out again this year so I got it out of the way. Ice is forming thin on smaller water bodies here already. Quote
Craiger12 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 While I'm sad to pack in my normal gear for the year, I'm excited about my first season of ice fishing. I have never done it before. Just picked up my first setup and a few lures to try out once the lakes freeze over. Almost time to see what it's all about. Anyone else planning on dropping a line through the ice this year? Quote
bassguytom Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I wait until the lakes are frozen to winterize my boat. The last 2 years have been mild here and I fished all winter. I change the lower unit oil and plugs and keep going. I haven't fogged my engine in 2 years. I just jinxed myself didn't I? Crap! I hate shoveling snow. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 15, 2013 Super User Posted November 15, 2013 I don't stop, if one spot is frozen I'll go somewhere else Quote
