doyle8218 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Does anyone own one of these? I am looking at the 6'10" mh fast tip. It feels nice and light and has a great tip. Any input appreciated. Or any other options Quote
doyle8218 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 I see there are a lot of Daiwa fans here Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 I see there are a lot of Daiwa fans here Not nearly as many as Shimano fans. Visit tackletour for what is probably a majority of Daiwa fans. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 I see there are a lot of Daiwa fans here Or maybe there's not a lot of experience with them yet since they're relatively new to the market. Plenty of Daiwa fans here, though maybe not as many as at TT as new said. I've not held the new Tatula rods, my local BPS doesn't carry them (or at least didn't when I was last there). I have, however, held the Lexa rods and was very impressed with the weight. What I've read on the web suggests they (Tatula) rods are quite good. Quote
Arv Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I've only held them. They have an interesting reel seat, though I don't know that I would dislike it. It felt light in my hand, but I am unsure of how it will balance with a reel since I never mounted one on it. They are definitely good looking IMO. Quote

Some don't like them. I liked the early Camaros, others liked the Mustang. I think it is mostly personal, and not a difference in how well the seat works/feels....at least for most of us. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 I've only handled them in the store but they seem really nice. The build quality was good and the rods were very light. The reel seat looked to be the same one, or similar, to the seats Daiwa uses on many of their high end rods. If I needed a rod in the $150 range, the Tatula would be what I bought. 1 Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted November 12, 2013 Super User Posted November 12, 2013 I was at Bass Pro last Friday night and checked these rods out. I was very impressed, good build quality, nice components, and very light. I would have to think that these will be a serious contender in this price range. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted November 12, 2013 Super User Posted November 12, 2013 I'll have to take a look with all the hype I've seen. At that price range I have been set on getting the Aetos, possibly a new contender? Quote
Grantman83 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 These are between $159-179....perhaps you meant the lexa rods which are between $119-139? Quote
doyle8218 Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Great input guys, thank you. It's on the way!!! Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 the tackletour review of the tatula rod is up. Very impressive review. I feel that it should have got a higher rating in the "features" section than a 7.2. http://tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatatularod.html "These sticks are going to be bad news for the Zillion line of rods" Apparently they are very similar to the zillion, and the sensitivity competes with that of the steez rods. Hope this helps anyone on the fence, Quote
bootytrain Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Tatula rods are rediculously nice for the price vs competing rods in the same price range in feel and looks. Handled them a few times at bps. Just put some tape on the front reel foot as the aluminum but looked like it could scratch it up. I'm getting one once my new reel comes in :-) Quote
Got1Fishing Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Not to hijack this thread... But can anyone compare this rod to the Pinnicale Perfecta rods? I'm torn between getting one of these 2 rods next Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 I've had my eye on them for a while now. Since I just traded for a tatula r 8:1:1 looks like the 7'4 H will be my next rod purchase before spring. The review was exactly what I was hoping to hear about these rods. Quote

Smallmouth Hunter Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I put a tatula reel on the tatula rod instore, and it balanced PERFECTLY. Very impressed with the balance. The reel seat makes the tatula reel feel very small in your hand somehow. Not really sure how to describe it, but I loved the feel of it. Also, it was such a light rod that the tatula reel did not feel even sightly heavy. Will be buying one of these as well. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 Frogging Combo? Yeah double duty frog/pitching combo Quote
GaterB Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Yeah double duty frog/pitching combo Awesome. I'm looking to do the same thing this year. Can't wait for some warmer weather! Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 Yeah it's super cold here. I use this time to trade/sell/buy and get new things for next April. Quote
deputybc Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I have fished with 1 as my buddy has a dozen of them. I was very impressed with how they felt while fishing. They are supposed to have the same blank as the zillions did but for a lot cheaper price. Quote

I think that the tatula arguably could have got a 9 or so if it wasn't for the features scoring which IMO is not as high as it could/should be, and the application score which is debatable as well at 8 points.. It makes up for it with a 9.47 in construction/quality though. Quote

Its not part of the rod while fishing so why have that in there??? The application just has to do with that specific model being a heavy power stick. The only other ding was the balance so it just relates to this model. Quote
