born2fish94 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Everyone on here knows i am straight up true blue Denali rods believer. But recently ive been stumped. I am in the market for a jig Rod, price is not too big of an issue since i can get a good discount through the college team on tackle warehouse. I'm looking for a 7'3" of a 7'4" rod. i would preferably go with a heavy action. Im really considering the Noirwood slop rod but its an extra heavy. and on here on the coosa i fish some 3/8 oz jigs alot and sometime 5/16 oz. its rated for a 3/8 oz i just wanna make sure i can feel it. this rod will also be used for my jigs as big as 3/4 too. I'm trying to find a sweet medium that will do it all. and i want sensitivity for sure. if anyone has fished the Slop rod please let me know your input. But i might just be willing to break away to a different brand for just this rod even though its hard. i'm super picky about my jig rods so if anyone has anything they would suggest or any info on the slop rod i would greatly appreciate it! Arv Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I'm sure there are others out there but I feel like my Phenix m1 7'2 h/xf does a good job 3/8 up to 3/4. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted November 9, 2013 Super User Posted November 9, 2013 You'll be fine with what you want, a 5/16oz jig with a trailer is around 3/8oz and heavier anyway and that series is Denali's top of the line, get it or you'll regret it if you are a big fan of those rods. Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 9, 2013 Super User Posted November 9, 2013 If you go outside on Denali, the megabass orochi extreme mission type F and the nrx 873 are great rods for jigs in that weight range. The EMTF is a bit more versatile. Sensitivity on both are outstanding. The dobyns dx 745 is another great rod to consider as well. Quote

Do yourself a favor a take a look at the new Veracity line of rods from Abu Garcia. These rods are extremely light weight and sensitive. I believe that the 7'6" MH with a fast tip will be perfect for jig fishing. I use these rods and absolutely love them. Quote

born2fish94 Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 when the vendettas and veritas first came out i bought 3, broke every single one in a week. all on fish Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 10, 2013 Super User Posted November 10, 2013 dobyns DX745. one hell of a jig rod. you won't look back. Quote
rangerjockey Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I own a bunch and depending on your budget the GLX 894jwr is about as good as it gets. For less money I like the Falcon cara amistad , although I've never tried less that 3/8s and a trailer with it . just a great stick..The cumara is also in that price range. The 745 would also be in my top 3 or 4.. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 10, 2013 Super User Posted November 10, 2013 The OP has made up his mind on what he wants, you all are wasting your time suggesting alternatives. Like suggesting an Audi to a BMW driver, both are excellent brands, neither driver would change because they are satisfied with what they have. A custom rod builder could easily build a rod to your exact specification in this price range. Tom Quote
TBendBassin Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Kistler klx jig rod. It comes in 7ft, 7'3, and 7'6. Split grip or full handle. Only draw back is they don't sell them on TW. Give them a look they are built using Gary Loomis's North Fork Composite blanks which IMO are the best blanks on the market. Or if price isn't an issue get the kistler Z Bone they come in the same lengths but use the high modulus North Fork Composites blanks. Quote
Super User David P Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 Dobyns 744 or 745DX Extreme Rod. Friggin' incredible! Quote

I'll add a GLX 894 to the group. 1'' longer, but I Haven't found a person that doesn't like that rod for your uses. I don't see an advantage of being a "believer" to one name-brand. Too many manufacturers doing too many good things to be limit myself to one. Unless, of course, I was sponsored. Don't see that happening anytime soon though. Quote
