Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 After reading the BBQ thread. It got me to thinking. We need a food/cooking board. I think it would be quite helpful and informative for all our members. We obviously have a wealth of knowledgeable cooks on here. An example Little Timmy catches a delicious striped bass. He is curious as to what a good way to marinade and cook said fish is. He pulls up trusty BR on his phone abd BAMMM there is a discussion happening right then and there about it. Timmy enjoys eating his hunk of meat and the other BR members get to read about how good the advice was. Example two. Glenn wants to do some Italian cooking for some reason. He decides on Italian sausage and a spaghetti with red sauce and clams and scallops. Well ol Raider makes the best from scratch red sauce west of Italy. Plus his scallops and clams are absolutely amazing. How ever can I get all this information to Glenn if their is not a proper forum to poat it in. Glenn would be stuck eating subpar red sauce and shellfish. Please Glenn help me stop that from happening. Dont eat subpar shellfish and red sauce. 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 If Glenn wants to know about scrapple he can ask me. I make the best south of Md. and north of Md. east and west of Md too. 1 Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Deaknh03, what is wrong with broth, meat, seasoning and corn meal? 1 Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Deaknh03, what is wrong with broth, meat, seasoning and corn meal? The term meat is being used pretty loosely. Scrapple makes hot dogs look like health food. 1 Quote
JWOA Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Id agree with this...i know other bass forums have this particular thread option...even rifle and air rifle forums 1 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 When you butcher a hog, after you cook off the bones the meat that was left on them goes into scrapple instead of going to waste. Only different between it and every other cuts of meat is its not a pretty cut. Some people put liver in it, but personally leave that out. Rather have it fried up with some onions. 1 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Red sauce? Don't you mean gravy? After reading the BBQ thread. It got me to thinking. We need a food/cooking board. Super User J Francho Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Bout every two years, there's a food thread, and someone asks for a food forum. I doubt there would ever be enough traffic to support an entire forum category. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Probably not. On one of my SW forums they do have a recipes section devoted to fish and seafood. Granted there are far less members but most sw anglers keep their legal catch, there is action on that board but not all that much. Try barracuda, you would be amazed how great they taste, flakey white meat with a wonderful flavor, but do they stink when you land them, lol. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 You ever eat spam? Mike, what do you think? Quote
Insanity Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Um spam on the BBQ. Wonder what that would be like with a sweet BBQ sauce. OR should I just smoke it. Quote

Super User AK-Jax86 Posted November 12, 2013 Super User Posted November 12, 2013 homemade burgers... get you some ground meat, season it with pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, chop up some onions and jalapenos and mix it all together and mold into burgers. Will change your outlook on a good burger everything else won't taste the same lol. I like to throw some pepper jack or cheddar cheese on mine Quote
