This summer I took a kid fishing and he accidentally stepped on the second guide on my lightning rod shock. I'm wondering if there is a way to fix it that is worth it, since lightning rods are only about 50 bucks a piece. the guide snapped right above where the support meets the actual guide (circle, not sure what it's called). Anyway, it would require the complete replacement of that guide. Is there a way I can do it cheaply, or am I better off just scrapping the rod?

Before you decide if the rod is worth fixing, CAREFULLY check for damage to the blank  Flex the rod in the area of the broken guide. If it's damaged, there's a pretty good chance the rod will break.

Replacing a guide isn't all that difficult. There are youtube videos showing how to do it.

DVT is right, 10 bucks but it isn't too hard to do yourself if you don't know of a builder. The Berkley lightning rod shock isn't a bad rod, get the guide fixed and then when you upgrade you'll have a good rod to help teach another kid how to fish.

Thanks guys i'll go the DIY route and use it as a learning experience in case I ever need to do it again!

You have just PO'ed the Bait Monkey who votes for you to have a new rod.

Like a G. Loomis NRX or GLX series.

Better be careful as the Bait Monkey knows all and he is watching you very closely now.

Watch your back when fishing!!!!
