Good Crank That Run's 10-12 Feet?

I have been doing well with shallow squarebills, but looking for something that goes a little deeper to run through the suspended schhols.

 

Will a DT10 go 10' with 20#PP braid on a long cast?

Most 20lb. braid has a smaller diameter than 10lb. mono which is what most lure makers use when determining a lure's running depth. So, the answer to your question about a DT10 on 20lb. PowerPro would be yes.  The easiest way to determine this for sure would be to find an area that is known to be 10ft. deep and make a long cast.  If the lure is bumping bottom for the majority of the retrieve, you'll know for sure that it can reach that depth consistantly.

Since I want a cool water bait, I would like a suspending crank.

 

How about a Fat Free Shad suspending? Flatter sides with less wobble might be better too?

DT 10 or DT 12 will work.

 

I run 8lb diameter PP on my cranking rod and have hit bottom with the DT 10 in 11' of water before.

I would try a Livingston Dive Master 14. This lure has a lot of feature including the EBS techonolgy and the eyes glow. it has a 12 second cycle which means the EBS sound goes for 4 seconds, then 4 seconds of nothing, then the light for the eyes. These lures are truly amazing. Check them out!

I would actually go with the Norman DD22.

you want to dig bottom after all, or if they are suspended a bit deeper, and this gives you a better range at 15-18.

DT series says they stay in the zone longer. Does this mean they suspend?

 

I found a cheap fat free shad suspending on Ebay I will try.

 

I have some DD22 (not suspending) I will try on shorter cast.

 

The fish are suspended about 10-12' down over deep water.

 

I have in the past drilled a hole in a crank and added a couple bb's to make it suspend.

I like the new LIVETarget bail ball crank baits. They are see through representing inside them a school of shad. They run 10 ft. I'm going to buy some this next year

I have fished the Bomber Fat Free Shad Jr. (BD6), Norman Deep Little N, Rapala DT10. I like the Fat Free Shad the best out of these 3 crankbaits. It gets to depth faster and doesn't pull has hard as the others, especially the DT10, that thing kills you.

The Rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crankbait in chartreuse that dives 10' since it floats you can adjust your reel speed to run it from the topwater action to bouncing it off the bottom at 10'. I cast it out sweep the rod back and game on when it hits the bottom. I just reel it slow when it's down. This is one hot lure.

Man I remember when they came out that was a big producing bait around here. Think it had more to do with ( there) rattle sound then anything. And the fact that it looked like a shad didn't hurt I'm sure. They just loved it.

And they still produce. Every one should own a few of those.
