Been looking into the "Float n Fly" technique and thought of giving it a try. Got the reel, got the flies/small jigs, but had a little trouble sourcing a rod locally.

What I did find on CL is an 8'3" Medium Light Abu Garcia Crossfire rod.

Is this rod I picked up a decent choice for the float n fly technique?

OR

Would this be a better rod for a Dropshot?

Float and fly all the way. IMO it may be a bit too long and somewhat lacking in sensitivity and proper power for a drop shot.

I believe the cross fire is a fly rod. Fly rods are designed to cast fly line of specific weight, not lures.

Bill Siemantel did a Vedio on float n flies you could check out.
