airborne_angler Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Been looking into the "Float n Fly" technique and thought of giving it a try. Got the reel, got the flies/small jigs, but had a little trouble sourcing a rod locally. What I did find on CL is an 8'3" Medium Light Abu Garcia Crossfire rod. Is this rod I picked up a decent choice for the float n fly technique? OR Would this be a better rod for a Dropshot? Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted November 7, 2013 Super User Posted November 7, 2013 Float and fly all the way. IMO it may be a bit too long and somewhat lacking in sensitivity and proper power for a drop shot. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 I believe the cross fire is a fly rod. Fly rods are designed to cast fly line of specific weight, not lures. Bill Siemantel did a Vedio on float n flies you could check out. Tom Quote
