Super User bigbill Posted November 7, 2013 Super User Posted November 7, 2013 I had ordered three more new lews spinning rods. There here finally. I have a complete line up of lews spinning rods now. My last spinning rods are; Lews Speed Stick 5' trout ultra lite/fast action #SGA50LFS Lews Speed Stick 5'6" lite/fast action #SGA56LFS Lews Speed Stick 6' Tornament med/hvy fast action #TGS60MFS I find the action and the feel of the lews rods go from the handle to the tip in one continuous flow. Here my older rods felt spongy or too soft in one section or the other. The chee or flow of the tube wasn't there. The lews tournament rod is the first heavy action rod to be a medium heavy action spinning rod. It has no weak areas in the quality of the tube it feels great. Maybe it's the one piece rods is why they feel better but even my two piece lews rods feel good too. These are brand new lews rods. I'm very surprised that an affordable rod can be so different over the rods I been using in the past. There not a $300+ rod for spending a few more dollars I have an awesome feeling rod now. These were between $19 to $62 for all my spinning and casting rods some were a $99 list. I can't wait to see what they feel like with a bass on them. Now I can set the hook with some force and land that big bass. I have the 6'6" & 7" lews spinning rods to go with these. I think have the "Chee" (flow) on my side with the Lews rods. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted November 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 7, 2013 That too your right. I'm broke mad money wise but I don't care. I just look forward to fishing. I'm way past the bait monkey for sure I have the bait monkeys daddy on my back now. I just purchased five spinning setups for Christmas presents too. 1 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 7, 2013 Super User Posted November 7, 2013 Long as you happy, seems like you have a full compliment of rods and will be prepared for any situation now. Rod technology has come a long way in recent years, it nice to have good rods at lower prices. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 7, 2013 Super User Posted November 7, 2013 Bill, I am interested in hearing a review on the UL and L powered Lews spinning rod you have. I am in the market for a new Bluegill/Perch dropshot rod since my Shimano UL rod has broke, and the store I bought it from won't honor the over the counter lifetime warranty. Needles to say it will be my last Shimano rod. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted November 8, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 8, 2013 On the 5'6" Lite rod I just put a US Reel Super Caster 180 reel on it. I'll try it soon. There saying snow next week I hope there wrong. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted November 8, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 8, 2013 I probably have about 9 new spinning rod setups. And 12 New casting setups. I fish from shore and hope to get a boat or two in the spring. I fish with five rod setups from shore now. My excellent condition older equipment will go to the gal I met during my radiation who takes kids fishing. Some I may sell here. Quote

I think I can comfortably fish with the lews rods. Quote

I even broke one I bought off of eBay and they didn't care. I went to BPS first and was surprised that they don't honor Shimano's warranty. I was really really surprised. They actually told me to go other small time local fishing store. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Kevin VanDam at the Richmond Fishing Expo a number of years ago suggested everyone stick with one brand of rod. By doing this you will learn the feel of each rod in the series and do a better job of selecting the right rod for your presentation. Just thought I would let you guys know what KVD said. Quote

That sounds supportive about what I'm doing I had the same thoughts to switch to one brand of rods. I'm just a shore fisherman what do I know.....My dad always said to be the best at something as good as you can be. If you give it your all that's the best you can do. I did it with my spinning rods so far. I have two lews casting rods, a vengeance, a lightening shocker, a lightening, a kvd tour in casters too. I think I'm all set for a while. But if I see the difference in quality in the $99 rods how much better do the $150 to $300 rods get? I'm going to have to hang out at my local cabelas someday and check them out. Quote
