Jacob Krahenbil Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 hey guys i was just wondering if using a crank bait is effective in the winter? if so where? thanks Quote
PotomacBassin Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Do you have access to the warm side during the winter? Quote
quanjig Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 You will probably be better off with blade type baits in the winter at Anna. That and a jerkbait. Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Warm side crankin' works........15-18' depths through the deeper cuts usually produce. Quote
Jacob Krahenbil Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 i put in at either sturgeons creek or Anna point so yes i do have access to the warm side however i dont fish it much due to i only have a old 25 HP so i generally don't go too much farther than sturgeons. any good places up where like anna point is? what about all those points and things are they any good this time of year? thanks Quote

PotomacBassin Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I live right up 95, but always go to the Potomac because I'm 4 miles away from that but I've been dying to get out on Anna during the winter on the warm side. I've heard the water is about 70+ degrees during the winter. You should host us sometime so we can try to figure out which lures work Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 Anna Point and Sturgeon Creek are not on the hot side. The hot side is private and you need to know someone to fish that portion of One Fish Anna. Give a tight wobble crankbait a try along with everything else the guys say to throw. I believe the winner of the Lake Anna Cup scored the win with over 21 pounds last weekend. I have no idea what he and his partner were throwing so you give it a shot and let us know how you do. Quote

The water temperature can get into the high 60s and low 70s in the winter months. The closer you get to the nuclear plant the warmer the water. Quote
