Short and sweet... my only option at the moment is to store my boat outside in the elements. The carpet is already "dead", but the seats are still in really good shape, but I'm noticing the beginnings of sun damage, so I want to do something to protect them. Did a bunch of google searches and couldn't find anything.... does anyone know where I can buy some seat covers that will actually fit the bucket seats (where both the bottom and back are attached to the hull). I just want some covers I can quickly slip onto the seats with some elastic in them to hold them on. Don't need to be trailerable, just something for storage. Please help me find some?

Thanks!

First, clean them and apply a protectant that will block the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Sorry that I cannot direct you to a source for slip on seat covers.  Is it possible to remove the seats and store them inside?

If the seats are side by side, get a tarp with grommets around the edges.  Get one big enough to drape over the boat where the seats are.  Then you can lace a cord through the grommets passing the cord beneath the hull, and pull it tight.  Or, you can use bungee cords to secure the tarp.  Cord is cheaper.  Bungee cords are easier.

If the boat is small enough, remove the motor and flip the boat upside down.  That will keep the sunlight off the seats, and will also prevent dirt and debris from collecting in the hull.  Put the boat on sawhorses or some type of blocks to keep it off the ground.

On my old boat, I had some seat covers, that I bought that fit car bucket seats. I bought them at Wal-Mart. You can get them for the high back or low back seats. Mine had a full back on them. I will tell you one thing though, and the ones I bought only lasted about 4 years or so. They weren't high quality, however I only paid $15 for each cover.

Boat is an 18ft w/ a 150, so I can't flip it over :) As for the tarp idea, I like it. If I can't find anything in the next week I will be doing that. As for the protectant and cleaner, can you point me to anything you/some-you-know have used?

Meguires mirror glaze is the best thing going for vinyl.   If it were me I clean the seats then remove them if the boat is going to be in storage.

I believe Armorall has UV protectant, but I'm not sure.  I know it is used on automobile dashboards which get a lot of sunlight, unless they are kept in a carport or garage.  Do a Google search on vinyl cleaners with ultraviolet protection.  You can also Google boat cleaners.  Check the various products to find one that cleans and protects in one application.

We use 303 protectorant for vinyl. If you are really concerned then remove the seats and put them indoor.

Finding short bucket seat covers is a pain in the butt nowadays

How hard is it to go to Walmart and buy a 10X20 silver tarp with the brown back for $20 or so and a few bungie cords or rope and cover your boat.  Nothing infuriates me more than people that will let an otherwise nice boat sit out in the elements and rot :cry4: The silver-brown tarps will last several years.

Sit in the elements and rot sounds pretty morbid! Fish it almost daily... the only thing getting wear from the elements is the seats... the carpet died pretty quick even when I kept it covered the first two months I had it... but on that note you're dang certain when I get me another house it'll have a covered carport/garage!
