JWOA Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Im looking for a new baitcaster, my price range is 150 and under...any suggestions Quote
BenBassmaster Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 What applications are you going to be using the reel for? Any brands/models your looking at? You also might check the flea market for a deal. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Shimano, ABU, Daiwa offerings at that price point make it almost impossible to go wrong. If you have any preferences we might be able to help you narrow down choices. 1 Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 Check out the Pfleuger and Pinnacle reels as well. Great reels at reasonable prices. Are you beginning to get the drift here? Everyone will have an opinion, but only you can decide on which is the best reel for you on any given rod. In the $150 price range, most any reel you choose will do the job, and will do it well. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 Chronarch 50e. Just wait three more weeks and TW will have them for 20% off. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 Jay, everyone will give you their input on their favorite brand baitcaster. Here is what I want you to do: Try to find a local individual that repairs rods and reels. Call and ask him which reels he likes best based on the inner workings and repair statistics. My friend in Powhatan that repairs rods and reels likes Shimano and Lews. He told me that the Lews inner workings are equal to or better than Shimano based on the plastic used and the times he had to repair them. Hold off on making your purchase until the Thanksgiving/Christmas sales begin. You may be able to find the reel of our choice that would retail for $200 in the $150 price range. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I would recamend Lew's Tournament Pro,,,,,lotta reel for the money!!! Well inside your price range, the Tournament and BB1 are also excellent choices and well below you maximum price allowance. C?ould narrow down the choice more if we knew what it will be used for! Super User roadwarrior Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 If you are willing to shop around for a bargin, the Pinnacle Optimus XLT is an outstanding reel. I have recently acquired my second reel below your pricing point. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 Some guys here are saying the lews bait caster is a good one. Do you think we will see the Friday after thanksgiving sales? I hope we see lots of fishing equipment on sale. I don't need rods and reels but I'm a lure junkie for sure. The bait monkey has me upside down by my ankles and he's not letting me go. Quote
