I been looking for a 6' casting rod to use in the tighter areas. I looked at most of the manufacturers and all they offer is 6'6" & 7' rods. I found a lews 6' casting rod on eBay. It might be a 2011 or 2012 model but that's ok with me. My rod selection

is complete now.

I wanted to go fishing today but we had a plumbing pipe leak. My son's came over and helped me fix it and they cleaned my chimneys and put new brakes on my wife's car.

It's a very busy day.

My point is remember to clean your fire place chimney, your Woodstove chimney and your furnance chimney too. Don't forget to clean your clothes dryer & pipe from all lint too. This should be your annual fall cleaning just like doing the leaves in your gutters. Remember this could save your life. Please do it right.

God bless and enjoy the holidays, bigbill

I can always live to fish another day but I can't bring back a life.

Cleaning gutters could cost you your life. If you get on a roof, be careful. I do it for a living and sometimes forget why people call me instead of doing it themselves. Then I remember not everyone, in fact most people, get queasy standing or sitting on the edge of a roof looking down.

I used to have a 6' casting rod I loved loved loved. It was a $25 Quest LS-7 from Dick's. Then I gave it to dad and went with 6'6" when I upgraded to the Shimano Compre. Hardly use the Compre and sometimes miss my old rod, but I can't get it out of my head that I'd be downgrading to go back to one like that, or to drop down to a shorter rod again. All I did with that other rod was toss 1/4 oz cranks on it. Was loads of fun but had just that one specific use only. That's it in my avatar, landing my largest bass to date on one of those 1/4 oz cranks. Still have the reel but the rod and that crank are both gone now.

My son goes up on the roof with my leaf blower to clean the gutters. It's much easier and faster.

Bill, you can buy a 6' in M or MH Berkley Lightning (not the Shock), or a 5'6" M if you prefer.  I bought a 6' MH for my  grandson that is now mine (he uses spinning only).  So far I have only thrown 1/2 oz spinnerbaits on it.  The whole rod (and reel) vibrates on the retrieve...from beginning to end...not just near the end as many of my longer and more expensive rods do.

I prefer to stay off roofs at my age because my balance isn't what it use to be.  :sad78:

I'm wobbley when a walk now so I'm not going up there. I have a good set of chimneys cleaning rods I made from 1/2" hydraulic tubing with Parker fittings and couplings. I have four 8' sections. With round and square brushes.

I have my son use a leaf blower to clean the gutters.
