aceman387 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I haven't been happy with my berkley digital scale. It seems to go through batteries too quickly not to mention i have to hold the power button down for a good 30 seconds to turn it on, even with a fresh battery installed. Quote

It is acurate though. Those batteries aren't cheap either. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted November 3, 2013 Super User Posted November 3, 2013 I found that both the Rapala lock-n-weigh, along with the Berkley digital lip grip are really accurate for the money, both can be had for under $50 and both are accurate witin 1oz to 2oz. and mine seem to be under rather than over. Boga Grips are the only ones I know of that are accurate enough to be certified but they are also fairly expensive. The X-Tools scale was really good until they discontinued them and for what it is worth, the lip grip scale model seem to be more accurate than the hook models, that is just from my experience. 1 Quote

CTGalloway21 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I bought a Rapala one for $19 that had the best reviews. Tried it out tonight. My crappie was .44lb and the largest bass was .79lb. I have never had a scale so I am glad to get one. Quote

Weighs accurately, and I've used it to compare with a spring/grip scale I use, which is also quite accurate. My goal is to buy a Boga Grip, but for now, this works very well when I have it with me. KyakR Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Berkely Lip-Grip is like a Boca and is what I use.....it's a bit unwieldy at first, but fairly accurate. Better on the fish than the hook kind, I think......and it sure helps me with those trebles and pike ;D Quote

John, when you turn it on and the display is blinking, push the power button a couple times. I'm not sure of the exact number but that will change it back. Quote

I have the cabelas rebranded on, works just as good, doesn't burn through batteries and is accurate. Only slight problem i have is the holding down on the off button long to shut it off, not much of a problem for me cause I have starrett dial calipers that shut off the same way and I'm used to it. Also have a back up berkley $5 spring scale that's a copy of all the other cheap spring scale, just in case. Quote
