What Is The Name Of This Best-Knot-Ever (!!)?

Over 30 years ago, some upstart line company that quickly disappeared put out a new knot (at the time) and gave it a name, I think it started with a C.

 

I've used it since; absolutely killer fail safe, fast and simple. Best I can do is describe it:

 

Put the line thru the eye from right to left and make a figure 8 with the tag crossing the main line in the process. The tag is now pointing downward. Wrap the "waist" of the figure 8 one full time and put the tag thru the top loop coming toward you. Wet it and tighten and you are ready.

 

I still marvel after decades that this thing doesn't slip, but it doesn't. It has a quarter of the twists and turns of any knot, and thus takes 1/4 of the time to tie. I've caught everything on it, including 25lb lake trout on ultralight gear with 4lb test. I'll use a Palomar for drop shot, and barrels to connect two lines, but this thing is my direct-to-lure go-to.

 

Any ideas? And what's in a name / who cares -- try this thing (you'll know if you got it right if it holds..).

Haven't heard of that one but it sounds interesting.  What types of line are you using it on?

Only on mono... I've been getting more interested in flouro and braid, but haven't tried them yet.

Speed knot is what I use and, for me, I could tie it way faster than the "8 knot". I pull the line through the eye several inches, pinch the tag between thumb and finger of the same hand that I also have pinching the main line. This lets the lure dangle on the loop between my thumb and finger, and I allow several inches of dangle. With my free hand I grasp the end of the tag, stretch it out, and then use the lure weight to swing the lure around the tag end 4 times. By now I've formed a loop at the top where I was pinching the tag. Put the tag end through this loop and pull. Wet the line and cinch tight. Trim tag. Takes me literally about 5 - 6 seconds to tie this. Have never had it fail and it works with mono and fluoro.

Palomar knot IMO is the easiest and quickest knot to tie, and it works for everything.

Same here. I only use the Palomar for line to lure connections regardless of the line I'm using.

Train yourself in any knot and it becomes fast. Never heard of one your using but sounds interesting

I here ya. Nothing can be eraser, stronger, or faster and still have the line threw the hook twice.

I used to tie a simple slip knot but went threw the hook twice. And wrapped the knot twice instead of once. I can do it 2 seconds faster then palomar when working with braid. Bought even with mono. Lol

But it doesn't stop pulling tighter. Which weakens the knot on mono. And might slip on some braids. (Called a round turn and two hitches, I looked it up).

I reread his post again today and it's not a cinch knot, but I've seen it before. I could follow what he said better today for some reason. Never seen it for fishing but I have for rope.
