BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 1, 2013 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 1, 2013 There are just some things you should know. In particular, if it's something that you claim bothers you. Here in Washington State there's a major battle brewing over genetically modified foods. Whether or not they're labeled is at the heart of it, but some folks have their dander up because the very thought of genetically modifying food is a bit of an apocalyptic nightmare to them. Sounds a little too 'sci- fi' for their comfort... and on some level it does sound sci- fi. It's also a former and current reality... and you've been eating GMF's for most of your life. Seedless grapes, seedless watermelon, bananas, broccoli, papayas, most sugars, wheat and soy products are genetically modified... and have been for decades. Then there's more trivial and abundantly more obvious things you should know. Back in 2007, current Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. Since Buffalo is in New York (state) Lynch believed (in his own words) that he'd be hanging out with Jay- Z... who lives in New York CITY. Buffalo is almost 400 miles away from NYC. And 'actress' Julianne Hough issued an apology last weekend after attending a muckety- muck Halloween party in Beverly Hills. She showed up in black- face. Guess she never got the 135 year- old memo. Nobody is perfect and no one knows everything, but: WHAT DID YOU JUST RECENTLY FIND OUT THAT MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY KNOWN? Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 That recovery from a total knee replacement would take more than three weeks and therefore I am finished fishing for the rest of the year. I actually believed all I needed was a three week recovery and the doctor would grant permission to fish Smith Mountain Lake and the Historic James River tournaments in November, plus drive my car to see clients. Wrong! I may have to miss the Lake Gaston and Buggs Island tournaments in March and hopefully fish as a nonboater on either One Fish Anna or the Potomac River in April. Kind of puts you in a depression. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 Needing quite a bit of dry wall replacement due to my recent flood I thought it was like a 1 or 2 day job. Boy was I wrong, it took about 2 1/2 weeks, my worker was slow but very meticulous and did an excellent job. Not that this was a rude awaking but re discovering how inefficient insurance and mortgage companies can be. I'm too exhausted from this ordeal to go into detail on my saga, even over night mail isn't over night..........lol Quote

preach4bass Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I thought "xing" was a word until I was in my late 20s. As in pedestrian "xing" or railroad "zing". My family was in Pittsburg a few years ago, and looking to cross the street, I said, "Hey, there's a pedestrian zing." My wife just shook her head as my dad explained that it was a pedestrian "CROSSING". Oh, that's what the "X" is for! When I was in high school one of my friends opened a bottle of Dr. Pepper that had a winning top on in. She exclaimed, "I just won 20 oz bottles of Dr. Pepper!!!" It took us a while to explain to her that she had only won a single 20 OUNCE bottle of the delicious beverage (which still wasn't a bad deal). Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 this is something I "knew", but didn't really consider the implications of until spending some time on this wonderfull thing we call the web. 50% of the people are below average. Quote

That would make 50% of the people above average, is the glass half full of half empty? 1 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted November 6, 2013 Super User Posted November 6, 2013 When I started working at my job 27 years ago I was very naive about company politics, and how thing work in the job place. According to what I learned in college this type of stuff wasn't suppose to happen. After surviving a boss that lied through his teeth, a boss that cheated his employees to make himself look good, and multiple layoffs, I think that I have wised up a little. 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted November 7, 2013 Super User Posted November 7, 2013 Getting old is much better than the alternative, but it is not for sissies. Quote
