Super User BassinLou Posted November 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 4, 2013 Fished a small canal later in the day today and caught several, most were small. Â Wind was blowing good and overcast. Â Both caught on Seibert shakey head jig with netbait t mac 6.5 inch in sun perch color. Â Typical canal fishing, cast to bank and slide it down the contour. Â Pick ups were very light. Â a 16 and 17 inch. Â Â 1-7, I got your fish down, looks like you found some time to go fishing. LOL, this competition will do that to you. Quote

fishingator Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Ok, got all the catches and lures used so far. Did them with some down time at work. Dam there is gonna be a lot of you guys this month I guess. I didn't think that there would be that many participants, lol. Oh well, I am gonna have to get more organized with a binder or something. So far the patterns of catches seem to be topwater frogs, vibe worms, and baitfish type baits (flukes and EZ's). This is the general pattern this time of year. So far you are all doing pretty good. Biggest fishes so far are dsidle-21" on a Ribbit frog in Lusiana craw Mutt-21" on a white fluke Awesome thank you! Quote
dsidle61 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Im liking all the organization that Lou and LMG are putting together. Really tough day up here in jax. winds were absolutely howling steady. 30 mph winds w 40 gusts made it tough sledding. Tried throwing the senko but i couldnt get a handle on it w/ the wind. Threw a frog for a bit and had 3 misses, only one was of any size that i saw. Would have been a perfect day w very overcast skys but the wind just killed me. Got out this morning and got myself a new rod and was pretty happy with it. I feel like i can cast a mile w this thing compares to my ultra light lol. definitely going to take some time to get used to casting w such a longer and stiffer rod (that sounds pretty funny) but i think it will help me in the long run. JaxBasser Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 The weather here is just disgusting. It's in the 50s, 30mph wind, rain. No fishing for me. Â Good call on the MF XF. That should be a fine worm/frog rod. Quote

Bass Czar is coming off of the injury list and is going to go hit up a bunch of new spots I found can't wait to try some of these things out.  MCS since you said its RIP with those rattlesnake lures I had to pick up a pack and try them out, I remember you told me about them last year and I bought some but I think there were the bigger diamond back ones. Have to thank fstr for the Big EZs, they work well for him, I never tried them but I will this weekend. Not sure how to rig them for the best results though. 1 Quote

This wind the past two days has been brutal at times today was ridiculous though. Was suppose to go to Orlando tomorrow but I am going next week so I am going to go out in OP with Dave if the weather allows us to fish, have a feeling its not going to be any better than today though Quote

navybassfisherman Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 How did the move go? You ready to hit the water this weekend? Went out today, slept in just stopped by my local publix pond for 30. No big ones biting. Tons of bait swimming the banks and lots of 1-2 pounders slamming. But I focus deeper trying to get something big....give a better spot a try tomorrow. Â Is this the public at Beach and Kernan. Â I was there Saturday for a hour or so and saw the bass hitting the baitfish also. Â Maybe I'll catch you out there one day. Quote

Bright Copper is an amazing color. 1 Quote

I would think the 3.75 would be just as good just use a 2/0 hook instead of a 3/0 or 4/0. I might pick some of the babies up myself.  Is this the public at Beach and Kernan.  I was there Saturday for a hour or so and saw the bass hitting the baitfish also.  Maybe I'll catch you out there one day.  Nope, this one is down south. Rig it to light line using a 3/0 EWG with a very light weight, and you can sweep it side to side under the water almost like a walk to dog action. Very enticing! 1 Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 5, 2013 Super User Posted November 5, 2013 How do you rig them what hooks do you usually use? Weight/weightless most likely depending on where I'm fishing and conditions I'd imagine? Â Big EZ is usually a 6/0 or 7/0 screw lock swim hook. The regular EZ swimmers I will rig with just a 5/0 EWG hook to swim along the surface, or a belly weighted screw lock to get some depth. 1 Quote
