Diggy Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 trokar 5/0 flipping hook, 1.5oz pumpkin tungsten pegged wearing a rage craw in black/blue fleck. Becoming very fond of punching thick cover. heres the rod I broke... the detta next to it is the same one. 7`6" Heavy with a quantum 7.0:1 flipping reel. I thought about buying that same rod, did you like it before it broke? The good thing is, you should have a new rod in less than a week if you have sent the information to Abu.  I actually fished yesterday and caught a few dinks. Missed a bunch. I missed something that seemed like a big fish, but Im hoping it was a turtle instead. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted November 3, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted November 3, 2013 FishinDaddy welcome aboard. I was curious when you were going to join us. Â I've been watching since the first one but have not played mostly because I don't get to fish that much anymore. Â Quote

fishingator Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I told my future step son we would go out fishing if he did all of his chores...never seen the kid work so hard lol. His sister made a snarky comment about him picking string beans in the garden and he simply replied that all of his hard work was going to pay off Quote

Rovingmutt Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Ok, time to report, I went out at 2:30 to 6:00, cloudy with sprinkles, thought it would be good for topwater bite, but only a little action, 3 hits but none in the boat, so i went to my favorite lure, white fluke with red #5 hook on 20# braid, i saw the shad in weeds in a cove so i parked right there and pulled in 14 fish in 3 1/2 hours, missed about 4, i was throwing fluke to the shallows and very slowly pulling to the deep, tap tap pause, very slow letting my lure sink, most of my hook ups came at about 8 ft to 10 ft deep, just under the shad. it was a fun day. my best 5 for today, 21, 18, 16, 15 1/2, 15 1/2. It was my fault it broke lifting a fish covered in crap in a hurry because the wind was about to blow us into a tree. Quote

I'm sure your would have rather broke your rod then to potentially mess up your boat, so you can look at it as a positive Quote

I hate them! Ive been in trees before and ended up with em all over me, been bit on the stomach by a brown recluse.. I really panic if I get into some over hanging brush. I will throw the pole in the water with a 12lb fish on it and jump into alligator infested water screaming like a Little girl before I let a bunch of spiders get on me again lol. 2 Quote

Super User AK-Jax86 Posted November 3, 2013 Super User Posted November 3, 2013 Here's my weekend report  Saturday I went out to my golf course after I got skunked in the rain. Mid day it cleared up I was fishing from 2p to around 4:30p. Caught 6 fish using 6" senkos (watermelon red and black with blue flake) and bass pro boss shad (blue gill)  my St. Croix Mojo Inshore 7' MH rod with Plfueger Patriarch spinning reel, 30# Power Pro braid. Weather was in the upper 70's and clear sky, post rain.  This 17" came off a boss shad. Casted in front of the bridge and it hit it about 5 yards or so after it hit the water.  This 18" came on a 6" senko black with blue flake. There was a floating pile of grass and I casted few yards past it working the senko slowly. Once I got it close I felt it slam the senko, I set the hook and it put up a pretty good fight. Jumping a few time before I got it in.   Today I found a new spot that looked, and proved to be, ideal for frogs! It was in the low 70's sunny and clear sky. I know there are bigger ones in there. I was only there for about 45 minutes and then I got snagged had to cut my braid. Was low so had to go get more, figures I left my other tackle bag with my other spools at my house. Was using the same rod and reel set up as Saturday... St. Croix Mojo Inshore 7' MH rod with Plfueger Patriarch spinning reel, 30# Power Pro braid.  Here as you can see I was using my frog in Catalpa color. Ended up catching 4 fish two were 16 and the other two were 19"  Caught this one in all that grass that you can see in the picture. Saw it chasing bait fish threw my frog by it, of course it didn't land where I wanted it to never does. Reeled in and then casted back out closer to where I saw it and then after a few twitches and pauses she exploded on it.  This one I was trying to cast to a patch of pads, can't see them in the picture I took, and it was one of those "how the hell did I cast that bad" lol and the second the frog hit the water this fish slammed it. Put up a hell of a fight took the frog straight out to the middle and then jumped a few times by the time I go it to shore it was barley hooked, the hook came out the second I touched it.   So that's my biggest 5 so far 19, 19, 19, 18, 17.  The 20"ers have eluded me this weekend. Going to do some fishing on Tuesday in Orlando while I am there, going to stop at BPS and pick up a few things. Then I won't be getting back out until the weekend, no more afternoon fishing now that it will be dark by the time I can get out. I may try to pull a MCS, I like to call it lol, and get out early morning and take advantage of that AM daylight. 3 Quote

Super User BassinLou Posted November 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2013 I caught my 5th today. I went out to, two lakes out in Miramar, from 3:30-5:30pm. I caught this 18" right before I was about to leave. I caught this one using a u-vibe worm WM seed buzzing on top. I was using the outfit with 30lbPP, using a 3/0 Gami EWG, no weight. Winds were 15-20MPH from the NE. I buzzed the worm thru a lily pad and grass field. Â Â 18" Quote

fishingator Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 We went out this evening and it was super windy. I was actually quite cold in shorts! We only got out for about an hour from 5:15-6:15. Nothing was moving or biting. I did catch two smalls on zoom speed worms black and blue. One set up was texas rigged on my "lucky walmart" pole lol, mono (I can't even remember what strength because I haven't used it in a while) and the other was just weedless no weight, braid. It is actually my frog pole but I was too lazy to change my other that had a wacky rig on it. Everyone else got skunked. I won't be able to fish during the week with the time change :/. It is supposed to rain all next weekend too. Super User BassinLou Posted November 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2013 Nice weekend guys. There were several nice caught fish, this weekend. I think this has been one of our strongest starts ever. There is going to be a lot of impressive catches this month. Quote
