That is a really good looking reel you got there! I hope it serve you well, even though you should have bought a Shimano, lol. :eyebrows:

Lou do you have my catch down from yesterday? ?

Yes, Czar, I have you down. Sorry, I didn't let you know earlier.

Bro, I am dying over here not being able to fish much this month. I got about 2 hours Sunday morning of time in, but didn't catch much. It's hard when I don't have a bank beater setup anymore. (Where is my Tatula Type-R?)

What happened to the LEWS you had LMG?

You know why I picked it? Because it was ON SALE!!! hahaha...I wanted a "starter" BC reel and was looking for aluminum and centrifugal brakes around a 100-120....Then this baby went on sale for $99 from $189 :respect-059:  :respect-059:  :respect-059:

I also fished my buddies energy, it was the slick all crazy chrome green model a few older than this...it was nice, he said it has held up.

Your lefty?

Wow! the Lews made it to your starting line up??

It fit the bill for the perfect reel for it with its mag brake system. Its not the caster that I thought it would be, but im spoiled with my Shimanos. So, lets try the Type-R. With the "supposed" casting ability of this reel, and the fast retrieve speed, it should be really good for bank fishing. Spooled with 10# YoZuri, it should cast just about any bait quite a distance.

Nope I learned old school switching hands, it is the only thing I will agree with RW on.LOL But I think I wouldn't mind a lefty if I got the chance. I bought it at Cabelas a while ago, all they had left was a righty and 7.0....TW was holding at 128 for a loooong time until a month or so ago then they dropped their price to 98. So tell me LMG what is your opinion on a rod. I want the sweet spot to throw 1/2 oz spinnerbaits, 1/2 oz jigs plus trailers and buzzbaits. At least a MH and the max is 100 but might go 120...Carbonlite is on the radar. Falcon Original head turner. I like the shimano, the green ones, the handles and reel seat I like the looks but the review called them TIP heavy.

Supposed to be CHILLY tomorrow morning. 40 something.....Speaking of chilly my kids went out to play today, 36 degree, liam my oldest hit the door and turned around, after ten minutes the next one comes in and five minutes later the littlest came in LOL My wife said he is never going north of Jacksonville again LOL...I told her it was 60 this morning and I had to put on a hoodie to go fishing.

The Carbonlite is a nice rod. A 7' MH F might be a good sweet spot for that. The Compre is a nice rod, not that tip heavy. Honestly, once you are fishing with the rod and reel, that tip heavy crap means nothing.

How about the Clarus? That any good. 20 bucks cheaper and and I like the sparkly black, goes with the reel better.

I will let you in on a little secret. There is not much difference between the Clarus and the Compre. I am actually going to mount my Tatula on a M XF Clarus rod. If its the color you are after, then go for it. The guides of the Compre and Clarus are nicer and smoother IMO compared to the Carbonlite.

My one issue with the Carbonlite is the guides. I have a spinning rod and while I LOVE the blank the guides seem large, delicate and dainty to me. Now I am thinking hard about the Shimano :Japanese: . :Idea3: And I just told my wife I would never buy one of those Shimano :Sumo: I don't know how to feel  :scared:  :surprised: Thanks for the input LMG :drinking-42:

I will tell you this, if you buy a rod you might be OK. If you buy a reel, its all over. I can not be held responsible for what happens after that, and don't blame it on me to your wife either.

Don't worry, mine told me "don't even think about it". She doesn't have much of a clue about the Type-R, except that she thinks I ordered it a year ago, lol.

I like it when parents come to visit, it takes contenders out of commission for a few days. First Martin, and now Dsidle. :eyebrows:  All kidding aside, enjoy the family time. :angel500:

Checking in. haven't been fishing due to a new social media endeavor but there is a lake in the parking lot so I will be able to fish once I get things in place! I tried to fish saturday but got sidetracked by driving around for food. I may fish this weekend
