Super User AK-Jax86 Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 Went out Saturday with Czar and DS to a few spots out by Ponte Vedra and OSA. Saturday I had the most strikes/misses on a frog that I have ever had since fishing them. It would have been an amazing day for me if I caught atleast half of the strikes I got lol. The biggest that day that I got was 18", caught 2 of them over in Ponte Vedra. The first one in Ponte Vedra came on a KVD 1.5 in sexy shad right in front of a cuvert. She bumped it once and then slammed it as it got close to the culvert. I was unhooking her and noticed some bubbles in the water. I released her not by the culvert and I cast out my crank by where I saw the bubbles. I was reeling it in and stopped in front of the culvert again and as the crank rose to the top I see a huge mouth inhale in! I jumped the gun and pulled straight up, I usually pull to the side when cranking, and the crank flew straight up right out her mouth. Over by OS road I missed a giant fish had her hooked and everything got hung up in pads I was trying to ease her out and then I let some slack out and then she was unhooked and I reeled in pads lol. I went back out that evening and caught 9 total, if I remember correctly 4 on a frog and 5 on a KVD 1.5 crankbait in sexy shad. So overall Saturday was an amazing day for me if I factor in all the misses lol.  Sunday I went out with Czar around 8am to our big fish spot and again I hooked into a beast this time I was using a Bass Pro boss shad in bluegill. I hooked it about 20 yards or so out in deep water. She stayed on the bottom my pole was bent so much I thought it was going to break. I'm reeling in and she is fighting and shaking violently! I get her about a 20ft from shore and then pop goes the hook she shook it loose. I slammed my pole to the ground as I see the bubbles going back out towards the deeper water! That morning I threw everything started with frogs, senko, gambler big ez, rattle snakes, KVD 1.5, KVD 2.5, boss shad, hudd weedless shad, and that's all I can remember off the top of my head. Only bite was the one I hooked on the Boss Shad. I move to the other pond with my black frog tied on (after all those different baits I used I was ready to leave and tied the frog on). I meant to cast over by the culvert and messed up the cast and in ends of landing nowhere near where I was trying to go and on land. I reel it in and the frog hits the water, probably about a foot or so of water I see this huge wake come and then BOOM frog gone! I set the hook and she starts pulling drag. I had it set loose so I tighten it a little and manage to reel her in. She went 21". Caught on 7' MH St. Croix rod with Pflueger reel and 30# braid on a black frog. Not sure what that one puts me at but that was the only fish I was able to cull since I didn't catch anything over 20" yet.   After that we hit up a few other spots that I found on this app on my phone but no luck so we called it a day around 12:45 to go watch some football. Wasted a good 45mins or so at the new Academy watching these idiots try to spool up my reels with braid and flouro it took 3 people I believe lol. On top of that they broke my reel didn't realize until I was fishing and decided to use that rod & reel for cranking. So I went back there later that evening and they exchanged it for another that took another hour or so I swear those people over at the new store are incompetent, maybe its due to the fact that they are fresh out of training so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I was mad because I wanted to get out to a spot that's on South Side blvd before it got dark but being there took up all the day light so I just went home.  May try to go out this evening to some spots on OS road other than that I won't be fishing until Saturday. 2 Quote

Super User LgMouthGambler Posted November 12, 2013 Super User Posted November 12, 2013 I guess there has not been much action this past week for you guys (and girl).  We got:  AK with a 21" on a black frog Lou got himself a 17.5" on a Koppers Frog Mutt got a few. A 20" on a white fluke. Also, a 21", 20 1/2", and 17" on a KVD Sexy Dawg  Looks like this week went to the topwater section.  Things to look for this month: Topwater baits are most likely going to dominate the bite. With all the windy conditions we have been having lately, the bait fish are going to be pushed into the shallows for cover, and that's where the Bass are going to be looking. During this month the Bass are going to be staging and looking for areas to make their beds. The bulls are still schooling around, but the females are preparing for their yearly routine to breed. Food is still on their mind, but they are going to be looking for easy pickings, like injured fish or animals. Spooks, frogs, and flukes are among the better baits of choice. They are able to be paused, jerked, and walked. The fact that they can be worked really slow will allow for the females to pick them off. For the times of the day where they will be diving a little deeper to get out of the heat, you will have a little more success with the Jig and Worm type baits. Don't forget about the spinnerbait either, they are great with a good wind that puts a chop on the water. If you happen to come upon a mat of vegetation, don't hesitate to punch through it. Usually it will be a game of "king of the hill" with Bass to hold under a mat. It is prime shelter and ambush post. It is easier to get the bait through the mat for them to bite than to have them chase something from underneath it. If you don't have heavy duty sticks and gear, you better jump on that during the Black Friday sales. A solid reel with a good braking system, a Heavy power rod, and 50-80# braid are going to be needed. 1-1 1/2oz tungsten weights and some good pitching baits like Brush Hogs, Ugly Otters, Why Nots, Flappin Daddys, etc.  So while you guys are out there, take a look around. What do you see? Do you see any beds being made yet? Do you notice any weird patterns? Its gonna be tough now with the stupid time change, but this is the prime time to get the morning bite on. Sun is out at 0600, and the fish will be biting. Good luck. 2 Quote
Super User MCS Posted November 12, 2013 Super User Posted November 12, 2013 Got two nice misses this morning, one on a foxy lady xcalibur lipless and another on a rattlesnake. Close to shore they were, water was murky and light wind with a little chop in places. No chasing was going on, sitting and waiting or cruising, the bank cruisers didn't seem interested in eating. Super User BassinLou Posted November 12, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 12, 2013 But wheres his fish? ......could these be tactics of a ninja  Actually, in LMG's defense, he announced earlier this month, that he would not be fishing much this month, with the move and all. However, I never discount anyone on here, so I am sure LMG's intention when he does get to fish is to swing for the fences. Quote

I got about 2 hours Sunday morning of time in, but didn't catch much. It's hard when I don't have a bank beater setup anymore. (Where is my Tatula Type-R?) Quote
