CTGalloway21 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I have tried a lot of line and this is the one I come back to. Low memory, my knots are super strong, hardly any line breaks, etc. Easily available in most stores and affordable. Quote
johnD. Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 McCoy xtra clear copolymer. you may have to order it though. Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 31, 2013 Super User Posted October 31, 2013 P-Line CXX. That extra "X" makes it better ! Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted October 31, 2013 Super User Posted October 31, 2013 I'm a big fan of CX too. I've tried many different lines but like you, always come back to CX for my non fluoro needs. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 31, 2013 Super User Posted October 31, 2013 I've heard good things about McCoy mono. A friend uses the P-Line C21 copolymer on just about every thing. I have Sufix Elite on my 50th Zillion (and don't remember what other reels). It has been in use for 3-4 years now. I like it. Put Sufix Siege Neon Tangerine on my daughter's reel a couple years ago, and she is please with it. Right now I am trying several different brands. Have Sunline Super Natural, Big Game, Trilene XL, Cajun Red and a couple others. So far I like Elite the best. I had a little bad luck with 8# P-Line CX the first year I got into baitcasters. Really like how it handled, but had a couple breaks...one down in the reel. Might have been due to backlashes. I probably should give it another try now that my casting is a lot better. Quote

Krappiehog Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) i been using berkley solutions on my spinning gear, its great !!! i have had no problems at all .. i will be trying the casing next ... at 5.99 a box its well worth it... i made a bad cast into a tree on ther river, w/ 6# it started to cut into my hand before it wold break ... i been using for trout, very small & limp.. great stuff ! update.. i put the casting line on my lews.. just as good as the spinning, strong, have fished in cover, rocks & docks, hung it a few times, no abrasions, & i use the mouth method, to check it... u can find every little spot.. just run line through you mouth over your tounge... learned from watching Xtreme angler.. this stuff is cheap & awesome Edited November 27, 2013 by trouthog Quote
Craiger12 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 P-Line CXX. That extra "X" makes it better ! x2. There will be more memory, but it has never been an issue for me when on baitcasting gear. IMO the increase in strength and abrasion resistance is worth the added memory. Certainly would not recommend anything higher than 6# on spinning gear though. Quote
Bruce424 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 McCoy xtra clear copolymer. you may have to order it though. X2 . Definatly a good line. Cant believe how little memory it has. And never had a knot Problem Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I love CX for spinning applications and CXX for any none braid baitcasting duties. CXX is my hands down favorite copoly out there, I've tried McCoy and while it didn't give me any problems I still didn't like it as well as CXX. I will add though that I'm a huge P-Line fan so take my opinion for what its worth. As Craiger12 said, don't use anything over 6-8# CXX on spinning gear as it's not a great experience at all. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 Big fan of the C21, Switched from the CX since all the places by me dropped the CX for a while and only offered C21. Haven't had a problem with it since. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 ande mono - more world records than any other lines combines. I believe we are talking about Ande tournament which I think is designed to break at the label. Just taking a guess as I'm not that well versed in their product line, it isn't for the recreational fisherman, it's for the trophy hunter and probably best suited for open water fishing. Submitting a fish to the IGFA is something that I am also not all that familiar with, I do think the IGFA tests the line to see if specs out before a record is recognized. I cheat, I use braid.................lol. Quote
Todd2 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Mccoy is my favorite copolymer. I've never used CX though. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted November 1, 2013 Super User Posted November 1, 2013 I like Silver Thread AN40, super low memory and outstanding abrasion resistance, the same can be said for Excalibur, I use those up to 12# and when I go to 15# or 20# then I go with Berkley big game, memory is more than I like but it is very abrasion resistant and it is lower in stretch than a lot of others, I was quite impressed with it the first time I used itand now I have it in bulk spools.
